When you put it like that it was quite impressive up until the season 2 cliff and the inability to defend.

What do you think happened in seasons 2 and 3 that destroyed the positivity of the first year?

Dog and duck players that Martinez actually signed for Wigan then resigned Kone and Alcaraz for us?

That first season was the school of science and some great football but then it went down hill rapidly after that

I absolutely believe Ancelotti will get us higher than Martinez did or ever could and also win a us trophy or two along the way

Also international management has got to be the easiest job for any half competent football manager in the world, he can only play Belgium nationals and they have a great generation of talent, it's not like he's scouted them from obscurity and made them play boss by not practicing free kicks, for how much of a nice guy Martinez was he wasn't good enough to be Everton manager
