But that's missing the point. I've been saying from before the restart that our chances of making Europe have been nonexistent and that we should use these games as an extended preseason to get ready. I've not been super arsed about results this entire time and it's why after 8 games of not doing much at all with the ball from open play that I'm not arsed at all about a 1-0 win.

We've got the defending down and that's good but there was plenty of possession for us today and it resulted in 5 shots and I think only 3 of those were created in open play. That isn't a great thing for the future.

If you'd asked me about Keane 10 games ago and I'd have had my head in my hands. But whatever has happened since he now looks undroppable in the heart of that defence. Winning everything in the air. Organising the back 4. Just plain solid.
 
Thought the defence as a whole was magnificent tonight and gave MOTM to young Branthwaite looked very assured But Keane outstanding too not many sides have reduced them to no shots on target this season, Gomez looked the player we thought he was and even Siggy put a decent shift in. So credit were it is due, but we have to do this week in week out but at least we were on the front foot for once.

I don't think that's an excuse for this low a total. I don't want to come off as going at Carlo because I'm not but I think we're expecting players to come in and revolutionize things and that might be risky. I'd just like to see more beforehand.
