We played football today!

We were actually really good going forward in the first half but got sucker punched with two terrible goals defensively.

Our issue today was not make the most of our attacks (nothing new there) and being shoddy in defence (again nothing new). It wasnt down to a lack of "playing football".

He can absolutely be called out on the fact that we can never fnish a chance or defend well enough. Their goals annoyed me greatly as we had about five warnings before the first goal. They did the same corner every time and kept getting closer and closer to scoring and we did nothing to rectify it. That type of thing annoys me.
Mate. There is no excuse what happened today after two fantastic performances. It's total collapse tactically and mentally. He is scared of his own house.

Again I get that but the solutions mentioned are not the answer either really. We don't actually have that player.

I think we nullified ourselves today mainly, especially in the first half, played well up til the final third where every cross was over/under hit or a shot was trickled at the goalie etc. We do this every game and have done for years.
We have a number of players who could play off a striker without the need to play 60 yard hoofed passes to them.

The amount of mistakes being made is obviously partly down to a lack of application by the players but its also the first sign of bad coaching. Poorly coached teams make lots of basic individual errors. And are rubbish at set pieces usually too - we can add that to the mix.

Who on earth do we bring in to replace Dyche?
We are the ugly sister of the premier league, so unattractive to any decent manager.

Potter is available, but not a chance.
Ruud van Nistelrooy did great things at PSV before he left and played good football.
Dean Smith, Lopetegui, Hassenhuttl, and Solskjaer all free too. But would any of them come?
All those apart from Lopetegui would jump at the chance. I wouldn’t want any of them personally and no idea who I would take tbh.

I have not made excuses.

I'm just saying we are not playing long ball or negative football in the slightest.

We are playing crap football and our issues have got nothing to do with a style of play and all to do with execution of basic things like shooting or marking at set pieces.

We are not playing long ball and have not done under Dyche. We probably should!

We played more long balls than Luton today mate

Harrison, Garner have played there before and played quite well.

In fact, Harrison did in the previous game and was fantastic - because he can actually control the ball and spot a pass/runner, whereas Doucoure can do neither.

I'd wager any decent CM will be good enough there as it expects you to be on the ball and pick a pass.

But they can't run forever like Doucoure though, so that's a moot point and won't happen. Especially when we can lump 3 tall players forward, preferably 1 CB, and hoof it to them with no plan instead.

@bbcsport Dyche: “It’s a hard one to swallow. In difficult conditions today I thought we (Everton) deserved not just one but all three points. To come away with nothing is tough on the players who put a good shift in. I’m not sure if these the conditions, bad luck or the nervousness around Goodison but we will shake ourselves down and go again. It’s a competitive league with no easy games”.
Hope he falls into a combine harvester.

We went positive though (I actually think Gueye is more use to us going forward then defensively these days, not that thats saying much). we got done by some awful defending. Goals where I would have liked us to take more caution!

We had chances, we never took them (as usual). I just dont think putting Gueye in the team is automatically a sign of us being cautious. If anything its a risky play with his dawdling in the ball and mad once a game passes straight to the opposition in a dangerous position. Theoretically putting him in the side should enable our other players to go forward.

I dont think players, positions, formations or intent actually matter right now, we are just crap regardless.

Gueye's been bloody awful. As has the midfield all season bar 1 game. Its been screaming for Garner to come inside. Should have started Harrison and possibly danjuma. Put Mcniell behind calvert lewin and benched gueye and doucoure.
Granted we aint much but as soon as i saw that starting line up i thought he's gone for caution at home against luton town.

How's he not under pressure by the way?

His record is as bad as all the previous managers and their sackings were all deemed absolutely correct, if not overdue when they happenned.

His home record is an absolute embarassment. There's no defending this many losses and he should be considering his position if anything.

All of these options are crap too though, thats the issue. (And I don't neccessarily disagree with you either)

None of these options change the fact that we did not learn from the same corner being taken five times with each attempt getting closer to goal until the scored, nor does it alter the fact that our full backs are useless.

We did not play cautiously today, we may have got a better result if we actually did!

Is there anybody in the building to sack him?
