Agreed.

But i think he still wanted them to not lose that attacking sense. The defence would get back on form soon enough. And it did look like it was turning after a few games though when Stones came in.

It just hasn't happened, especially when stones went out.

The whole age and form thing is sticking out like a sore thumb. Stones plays, defence infinitely better defence.

He doesn't. Goes tits up.
Even last year our 7 game winning run came with Stones alongside Distin in defence when Jags was out injured.

@davek

Come on Dave, you've let the players have it, you've let the fans have it, you've laid into some 'people' with 'agendas' so when do you get round to addressing Martinez mate?

@davek has done nothing but address the issues.

none of this agenda driven hysteria.

He's told it as it is. Which contrary to his stance on some things - has been totally spot on today.

For that I salute him.

Bollocks; if I want us to do well, I want a manager who is remotely worthy of leading our great club. The little Spaniard isn't.....
Well every single post your make is either how rubbish Barkley is or how rubbish Martinez is so try not to be offended when I say I don't give a damn what you think.

Hmm. Joined October 2014. 2nd post was 21st Dec below. Not a huge amount of support since.

Barkley's poor form implies that his performance yesterday is somehow an aberration; the lad can only look good when defenses stand off him eg Aston Villa, QPR. Otherwise he is a limited footballer; grossly overated.

Ok fine, we'll go about it this way then.
With 'these two idiots' in the side as the experienced first choice two (just like last season in the majority I hasten to add) then is it their fault that when Martinez selects them to play a game they cant play it is their fault for not being that type of player (because he must see like we can and know it like we do) or is it his can to carry because it is his selection and his method of playing that has us repeatedly coming unstuck?

So far as 'last May' and 'new blood' 'Van Dijk' and whatever else, hindsight is a wonderful thing, no one could anticipate Stones being out like he has been and very importantly how much of setting a system that doesn't work for the only players at his disposal is responsible for wrecking a once good working midfield?

Yeah, erm, no he hasn't. Players called idiots and suggested transfers or retirements - check.
Vitriol against anyone questioning Martinez (including a few rather nasty statements) - check
Avoiding addressing the responsibility Martinez has to take for using the players in a system that doesnt suit them - check.

Clean sweep.

He's right in part.

I would put Distin into forced retirement.

Would really love to see us play with Besic just infront of the back 4, with Barkley and McCarthy just as CMs (A bit like the vermin last year). They could both help out in attack and defence, but always have that protection with Besic. Think it would help solidify things at the back a bit.

Hope Bobby sorts things out the suave tit lol

Kenwright just needs to give him a bit of a bollocking and tell him to find a plan B, pronto.

None of this "should he be sacked" nonsense - far too soon for that.
