Hindsight is great though.

After last season with the 3rd best defence and easing Stones in next to Jags, those two would be cover. That's a solid base.

Injuries hit. Jags out of form. Alacaraz not good enough. And a season to much for Distin. Just not panned out.

Can't blame him for not buying a centre half in January IMO.

Even those Besic can play centre half.

Agree. This is why action is needed in January at CB

and on the wing.

True.

Its a side split in two. Goals not a problem. Its the defence, and the centre midfield pairing, that are out of form, too old, or not good enough

But they sorted that for 8 or 9 games or something. I remember posting early in the season when we were scoring at will, but letting daft goals in, that I would rather try to solve a problem of keeping clean sheets rather than solving a goal drought.

Easy today that now mate. But we had a bloody good defence last season. If we'd known they'd all turn into weapons this then yeah. But how could we know?!

Three ageing CB who will always get worse not better at there age and an unproven kid, it's his job to manage the squad and ensure we are well covered, we are now down to Alcaraz and Distin at the back which is ridiculous, the same goes for cover at RB, Hibbert ffs

We had two holding midfielders playing excellently protecting the defence last season too. Their form probably masked defensive weaknesses.

This season Barry looks past it/Unfit and McCarthy has missed an awful lot of games

Agreed.

But i think he still wanted them to not lose that attacking sense. The defence would get back on form soon enough. And it did look like it was turning after a few games though when Stones came in.

It just hasn't happened, especially when stones went out.

The whole age and form thing is sticking out like a sore thumb. Stones plays, defence infinitely better defence.

He doesn't. Goes tits up.

Like I have said too many times these last few days, baffling. Not Martinez, I am still with him, but the stuff like that. All at once, a reliable defence looks mince cos a young lad is injured ffs.

I don't disagree at all.

But say we'd bought in De Vrij and Nastasic on perms. Good defence there.

But no way we'd have got Lukaku (for better or worse). We'd have had no striker. Literally nobody.

Striker was priority in the summer and rightly so.

But a defender or 2 certainly would have been nice.

Stone and Jags would be first choice this season.
Distin earned another year after last season.
Alcaraz is back up as the manager rates him.

You can't name a club bar City who have 4 or more centre halves.

In hindsight, getting another centre half in would've made the difference. But for this season it wasnt a concern.

It is now.

Look I will say this to both camps.

MOYES IS GONE.

Martinez is now our manager so there shouldn't be two camps. If you want us to do well then you want Martinez to do well.
Bollocks; if I want us to do well, I want a manager who is remotely worthy of leading our great club. The little Spaniard isn't.....

Yep.

The kid is bailing the lot of them out in games.

They need to look at themselves.

@davek

Come on Dave, you've let the players have it, you've let the fans have it, you've laid into some 'people' with 'agendas' so when do you get round to addressing Martinez mate?
