This season was always going to be harder considering the increased volume of games we have to play.
Our pre season preparations I don't think we're ideal, as some of the friendlies arranged we're not the most meaningful. We did seem slow out of the blocks at the start of the season and struggled to last 90 mins in some of those early season games.
Then we get a short run of results and look to be putting some form together when we get a number of injuries.
It seems that some of the players are struggling with match fitness and our performances are lacking the energy of last season.
We had a great season last time with Martinez in charge and I'm sure he will continue to do a good job as manager of our club for years to come. He has not had the luck with so many injured players this time around. Hopefully our luck will change in the 2nd half of the season and we can continue to have a good run in the Europa League and put a good run of results together in the league.

World Cup summer too

Would love us to adopt liverpools style of punt it long to 3 fast forwards. I think lukaku and mirallas would excel at this alongside a pacy forward.

Howard

Coleman Jagielka Stones Baines

Mccarthy Barkley Besic

Mirallas Lukaku Perisic

Omg.

Is this some sort of joke

Why are you passionately against Martinez. Did you not think we played well last season or was it the Lukaku signing? It must be something fundamental or a huge mistake.
People reserve the right to criticise the manager, especially as things are so bad,not just results but performance, fitness, tactics, ball control, the basics.....

Big clubs don't harp on about what was achieved 'last year' as Peter Reid said in 1985 after the QPR game "we're not going to get blasé about this,we're champions we deserve it but it's not the end"

this is called ambition,so last seasons gone,it's history,we live in the now and at the moment now it's absolutely terrible,so yes Martinez can reap what he is sowing and so can everyone of those players who have performed appallingly this season

Poll results says it all really.

A bitter handful of people soon to be piped down.

Martinez safe as houses with the sensible non-kneejerk majority behind him.

All is well.

Its true mate. Pleasantly surprised how many have identified

CB / winger / GK

As the positions that need revision.

Not all are falling into the hysteria fuelled kneejerking anti Martinez agenda driven bile - three specific posters are pushing

The main issue is Distin as far as I can see and a lack of form/quality on the wing.

Time to correct that

I have been very vocal of a lot of Martinez' decisions although I now wish I hadn't been. So has Davek but there's a difference between being critical and running an agenda to get the manager out.

I haven't counted them, tbf. I know that there's a handful of people pushing for it furiously who have ALWAYS wanted Martinez out from the very beginning regardless of this slide; but there's also a fair few who are more honest than that who are being swayed by results and genuinely fear for the future.

The former group I really dont have any regard for at all. It's just an agenda they're driving forward to get rid of a manager who they detest because of the football he plays and they want a manager to replace him in the semi-agricultural mode of Moyes - a style of football they've been used to for a decade or so. Basically they hate the School of Science method of football and want us to regress to the past and ditch a passing game.

It's pretty sad to see, because you just know they want Everton beaten in matches. I cant fathom that.

I know but he's not going to lose his job because of an Internet forum, fans are fickle,we're terrible and it doesn't look like there's any kind of change coming, the manager is infuriating with his post defeat interviews,it's all very worrying but I would imagine a big percentage are just letting off steam,I'm critical and he is wrecking my head but I'm not in the sack him corner yet but I will criticise him until I see he's doing something to arrest this crisis

Anyone who wants us to be beaten can do one. I've never ever wanted that. Ever.

Ok lads, let's say we get these 2 players in. What happens when we are still getting pressed and being forced backwards and, as been the case for the majority of this season, loosing possession close to our own goal.

People have been very vocal about this, but we say we bring in the lad from Celtic, and let's be honest he's playing against third division opposition currently and has a large amount of time on the ball. He gets put it, and all of a sudden the 10 seconds he used to get on the ball turns into 2 seconds, and the below average player that used to chase him down is now a fully fledged international player who has a footballing brain and forces him into making the same mistakes we are witnessing now.

Wouldn't it be more reasonable to batten down the hatches for a couple of games, stop the over playing at the back and accept that sometimes your lines need to be cleared and a pass into a danger zone, just to retain possession, is not always the best option.

Get clean sheets and points on the board first, especially with the current slump, because it's not good watching. It's not entertaining, it's not exciting it's just plain poor.

Excuse me your majesty, for some people there might actually be a bit of ground inbetween the 'yes' and the 'no' options. I'll cart myself off to the tower now.

So seeing your forwards put 3/4 past a team week in week out is less entertaining than watching us fanny around passing to barry, to baines back to barry, to distin, to Jagielka, to Howard, back to Jagielka, to barry , loses possession.

Okay mate x
