He’s buying Maupay for a target man system…

And when Lampard is sacked and we are scrambling round for the next month I’m sure you’ll find a way to blame someone else then too.

The condition of the squad is the director of footballs responsibility and it is worse than when he arrived.
What then about the good he's done, the improvement of the academy, the filling of roles that should have been done years ago? We appointed a director for continuity, so if a manager is underperforming the DoF (who had zero say in Lampard and was told to simply work with him, the antithesis of the entire enterprise) can appoint someone without ripping up the squad. Lampard lost a striker and was given one who scored only one less than the previous one he lost. He has got him on one goal, all while horribly misusing his expensive midfield, his serviceable defenders, and the best keeper we've had since Neville Southall. Are McNeil and Maupay poor signings? Of course. But ripping up the planning and good he's done because of that would be so Everton I am almost certain we will do it, and our fans will cheer it because we refuse to evolve or adapt to the times.

His signings are going to relegate and bankrupt the club

We don't know that he has full control over signings given the embarrassing way we treated Brands, and if we were run like a proper football club we wouldn't be anywhere near the relegation zone. Blaming it on Thelwell is just silly, he had made mistakes but he's the least of the problem with that horrific board and that clueless manager. Red Bull hired this guy to transform one of their football teams, and they don't suffer fools.

I put sack, emotion driven but we don't let DoFs be DoFs and also, he does seem to be doing a lot behind the scenes within various departments. I just don't like the DoF model, especially with an interfering owner.

If the manager is somehow not using the signed players in the way they were intended when we signed them, whether we all think they are crap or not, then I'd say this also sits with a large responsibility on the DOF as I believe the role is to provide stability and continuity with an agreed way to play for the club overall (more or less) and signings brought in to suit. If the manager isn't sticking to plan then the DOF should apply the pressure and prepare for change.

...you know like the many normal clubs in world football, not Everton of course.

If buying them and using them in the way they have been was all agreed between the two then yeah there's a fair shout to say both cannot complain if turfed out.

However, who tf knows what goes on behind the scenes at this stupid club

Brands also kept signings bums like Doucoure, Mina, Gbamin, Kean, Gomes. Thelwell has control over signings get real Moshiri has never even heard of Dwight McNeil. Our recruitment team are absolutely the worst in the league. Worse than Forests who all just got the sack for being so bad. They need to go

Not getting a head of recruitment in for the summer is perhaps his biggest sin. Zero other clubs in the whole of Europe would let that happen yet we decided him, Lampard on his cellphone and Bill Kenwright taking football owners out for lunch was our best way of rebuilding.

His first job is the squad.

Nobody gives a flying fat one about filling positions in an academy which doesn’t produce first team quality players (or even bench quality players) and will care even less when we are in the championship because of way the squad has been slowly asset stripped over the last 5 years. He gets kudos for Onana and that’s about it.

Perhaps when he picks the next manager he can explain why he bought Maupay and McNiel (as it obviously wasn’t because Lampard wanted them). And I assume the next manager will want them as they must be part of this long term plan right? Not just some cheap knee jerk low hanging fruit the club found easy to sign?

If you honestly think he has a plan then I imagine you are one of the few that can see it.

Sort out the staff once the board has been punted. This is the only thing I'd accept. Otherwise it's rinse and repeat the last 6 years.

It never occurred to you that the fact the academy hasn't produced quality players for years was because it was horribly run? We had David Unsworth doing multiple jobs like some amateur operation. I understand his signings were crap but let's not pretend they were anyone's first choice or that this squad is nearly as bad as our incompetent manager is making them look.

That is a sackable offence. Its been 9 months there's literally no excusing it.
I agree, it's pure lunacy even if the rumours are true that we are getting one in soon. Why weren't they the first item on the bucket list given our abysmal recruitment. I still think sacking him solves nothing but there's plenty of good directors around we can poach if he leaves.
