didn't realise barry was a permanent signing mate

like I said he has passed all the tests so far and I love the guy, but he still needs to prove he can pick bargains out in the transfer window as effectively as moyes did otherwise down the years you can face slipping down the table. Loan signings don't count as players like Lukaku, barry (in his prime) del boy sadly we couldn't afford so i'll judge on the players we can afford to sign and with McCarthy he managed him so obviously he knew his quality its different to scouting players from other leagues. Managers at clubs like Liverpool can afford to gamble as their finances mean they have room to **** up under kenwright sadly we don't have that option!

Spot on with this Doug. The immediate impact wouldn't be huge but the long term effect would be devastating.

Riera really doesn't sound like the calibre of player we should be aiming for, he's effectively had half a decent season and he's 27.

because he's 28 this year and has only just come up from Spains equivalent of the championship (where his scoring record there wasn't amazing) would you be happy with David Nugent coming in? I find it weird at that age no one has heard of him/he hasn't been playing in atleast La Liga just doesn't add up unless he is a very very very very very late bloomer!

at the same time though mate just look at some of the ****e he bought at wigan, gary caldwell, Espinoza, that argie striker for £6 mil, rodallega, his other defenders etc.

I think their is room for concern when you look at them, I have faith in him but I just hope he sets his targets high with us and doesn't go for players he would have gone for at wigan (said he liked mcgeady at wigan) its a similar situation to Utd fans/the media wanting moyes to go for players at their level rather than trying to raid us every second

Rodallega scored the goal that kept them up one season, think it was away to Stoke last game of the season, Caldwell scored the winner at Anfield the same season when Wigan won there for the first time in their history... easy to call these players crap but who was he meant to attract to Wigan?

The attraction of wigan is very different to a regular top side in the premier league though. I highly doubt that the signings he did make at wigan were what he wanted exactly or that he had in mind.

Mcgeady would never sign for wigan and he didn't. Didnt he say he was chasing him whilst their.

I trust martinez and his judgement. Proved many wrong. Only time will tell.
