Dunno about ****ging him for saying what a lot here think mate, DavidMoyes knows the respect he has on these forums, so by saying freat week to be an evertonian he knows it will resonate and create a huge buzz here, If at the end of it it's simply Baines or barkley resigning then its pretty much a wtf is the great news, we all expect barkley to resign anyways and as for baines, im not gonna be doing cartwheels over a 29 year old resigning for us, will point out that like 40+% of the forum thought it wasnt a bad idea to sell if the money was right on a earlier thread in the season as well, so If it isnt delefou or Lukaku signing perm then what dholiday said is totally correct expect for selling barkley ofc thats a pure bell statement

Can't believe people are going to throw the toys out of the pram if we get some good news because people interpreted a "good week" to mean something pretty unrealistic happening i.e. Lukaku staying/Deulofeu staying.

What's wrong with not getting overly excited and just looking forward to some good news? The situation is now that people will be disappointed to hear that Baines and Barkley are signing new deals. Amazing.

Can't see how DM is responsible for people's imaginations running wild.

It's just Baines signing a new contract I reckon, not that big a deal as United have been looking at other targets for weeks now.

No, as a big Everton fan, he's just saying it wouldn't be damaging. Reassuring really.

I'm saying the funds wouldn't be damaging, as they obviously act as compensation for losing one of Europe's most exciting young talents, as the Rooney money helped us back in 2004.

If the worst is gonna happen, then I'd rather try to look on the positive side rather than melt into a nearby drain somewhere (which I might still do anyway).

If baines / barkley sign a new contract he was still right. Still a good week! got Mcgeady in, got one of our best players on a new contract!

Agreed mate, dont talk too much sense though, you'll upset the FIFA/Champ Manager brigade and those that think we have a divine right to be linked with all manner of dross with an over inflated price tag.

This bit's already been covered:

DAVIDMOYES's previous success as our resident ITK means any little thing he says will get micro-analysed. That's more our fault than his. Here's hoping he can give us some details before the blouses are out the wash.

It's in our nature to dream (nil satis...). nowt wrong with that.

Cheers mate, your thoughts as a well respected Evertonian carry a lot of weight on here.

Yes, that's clearly what i was saying!

If we're going to challenge on a regular basis it's clear we need a top striker. As examples Van Persie pretty much won the title for Man Utd last season and Suarez is the only reason Liverpool are up there.

Say what you want but a striker is the most important role in a team and can be the difference between a crap team being an average team or in our case, a really good team being a great team

Edit / out of interest where do you think we'd be without Lukaku this season?

Again i agree that goals win games, but sometimes spending £20+ on a striker doesnt work out - look at Soldado.

What good news?

We won, that was pretty good.

Keeping Baines? As per the poll, 40% would rather he left if it meant 16m funds.

Yes, keeping Baines is good news, as your poll suggests. At the age of 29, 60% of posters here wouldn't take £16m for him.

Do another when he gets back into anything resembling form and you'll get vastly different results (could be next week knowing the knee-jerking on here).

Referring back to his OP, I don't see anything misleading there. Of course, I'm interpreting it literally. We've beaten Norwich now, so adding an extended Baines contract to that and the signing of McGeady for under a million would make it a pretty ace few days.

Still exciting maybe not as much as first but loks like someone at the club would be signing a new contract, hopefully aside from Barkley as we had already been told that one. And also there simply has to be a first team ready striker on the way if Jelavic is going if there is not than that would be one of the worst managerial decisions of recent times, so a new striker is always exciting

I love it when people throw a hand grenade into a thread and then just scarper. The results are hilarious and perfectly sum up the internet effect. DAVIDMOYES has made two posts in a 20+ page thread.

I'm just going to wait and see what the news is.

I personally think Martinez has just bought some new shoes.
