Referring back to his OP, I don't see anything misleading there. Of course, I'm interpreting it literally. We've beaten Norwich now, so adding an extended Baines contract to that and the signing of McGeady for under a million would make it a pretty ace few days.

No one called it misleading. Lots called it vague and teasing.

I agree it's been a good week when we win, extend contracts and sign a new squad player.

But we all know we've been tickling our sacks in anticipation of moar.

Anyone wonder if martinez is any good at finding strikers? anytime he spent money on them at wigan they were terrible, just look up bosselli.

Kone was a free and rodillega was signed before he got there.

Wigan couldn't exactly attract the type of strikers we can, in theory. Trust in Roberto.

I love it when people throw a hand grenade into a thread and then just scarper. The results are hilarious and perfectly sum up the internet effect. DAVIDMOYES has made two posts in a 20+ page thread.

I'm just going to wait and see what the news is.

I personally think Martinez has just bought some new shoes.

New contract for Barkley I reckon.

If selling Baines to get Lukaku was the only option I'd drive him to Manchester myself.

That said, Lukaku will have no intention of joining us permanently so I hope Baines stays.

It's sad to say but I think I would too.

I love Baines, but Lukaku will be one of the best strikers in the world given 2-3 years.

Also, Baines did well yesterday, he looked like he was getting close to his best again.

This bit's already been covered:

It's in our nature to dream (nil satis...). nowt wrong with that.

So let's not have a go at the best ITK on the site and even if we are disappointed, not take it out on the one giving us the info. He's given us good info miles ahead of the media in the past. He's clearly sound.

This. However, Baines was phenomenal yesterday, it must be said, and you cannot put a price on having such a professional, home-grown lid in the side who absolutely loves the team and still has a good two/three years left in him at this level.

I just look at the alternatives... Baines goes, Lukaku stays what happens... we put Oviedo in and we become slightly worse as an XI than we are now. We lose the free kicks but still have Mirallas and Barkley who are no set piece slouches.

Baines stays but Lukaku goes back what happens... we keep the local lid but revert to the absolute waster Kone up front and are significantly weakened.

If only we have some money(!) to not constantly have to sell our best players.

Why do people keep saying we were offered lukaku?
Thats not the case and both rom and mourinho have said numerous times that it was all lukaku's choice

Who's having a go? Who's taking it out on the OP?

I only said the thread will be a bit disappointing if all it refers to is current players signing contract extensions. I've acknowledged his ITK'ness by way of referencing his 6/6 success rate (when he was being specific).

Unless you saw someone actually having a go at DAVIDMOYES?

From a personal point of view, as world class as Baines is, I've been resigned to thinking he'll leave in a transfer window for the past 3 seasons. So for me him signing a new contract isn't exactly something to jump around and shout about as every window it's just been about waiting for him to be sold.
