Only just come across this thread... Baines or Barkley on a long term contract would be worthy of starting a thread like this, but I've come up with this instead though because it just feels different. Using my detective powers, just by breaking down his 2nd post "just the club have done everything they can to keep someone at the club":

To keep someone at the club, I interpret that as someone able to leave/contract is nearly over as I don't think there are any bids in for a key player or someone demanding they want out
By everything they can, I see that as this player has been earmarked as a vital cog going forward

With rumours of Chelsea being in for strikers and still chasing Rooney, I might be reading into it too much but in my dream about this - Lukaku on a permanent deal. But my own preference of whatever he's referring to:

1- Lukaku signed on a permanent deal
2 - Barkley signs long term contract
3- Delofeu signs a permanent deal
4 - Baines signs a new long term contract to basically end his top-level career at EFC

But oh well, time will tell!

To my knowledge theirs bluefox and in the past Sheeds who when they posted people would sit up and note, but the OP is right alongside them 2 as someone when he posts then its usually damn close to whats happening and when he's wrong its always down to a last minute snag or some such

I might get **** on for saying this but...I can see why people would be disappointed if the news is about a new contract for Baines. I love the man (evidently) but is that the sort of news we are genuinely, deep down inside hoping for right now? Judging from the general posts around here at the moment, what the majority are hoping for is new players so we can push on and not fall away into 6th/7th place obscurity.

I don't think a lakaku deal is as far fetched as some think. We'v seen his weakness's first hand, how long will it take to iron these out or become the complete player Chelsea want? how long would lakaku be happy to sit on Chelsea's bench? And how long is his contract down to now...2yrs is it? And given there latest accounts, Chelsea need to bring some cash in if they want to make any big splashes in there transfer market.

The only deal breaker to this I see is, why would we do this deal now? We would obviously ideally like to do any deal in the summer, as we already have him on board until then. Player trying to earn a move will always play better!

You never know blues....him and the other belg were linked with would be excellent options for the future, with kone the experienced back up.

Your right about sheeds not claiming to be itk, but his information was better than just regurgitating the press, i think he has a mate who is a footy agent.
