Silly Season January 2014

Im prepared to get slated for this, but honestly I dont rate lukaku right now... and would put Jones in a similar (note I said similar and not "the same") group as Lukaku's recent performances.

Physical similarities aside, it's obvious RM likes a big fukkin battering ram as his centre forward. Lukaku has that in spades, but has looked lazy or off the pace since his first 10 appearances where he was obviously looking to make an impression. Lukaku is a better finisher, and better technically... but for the role he serves right now Jones could deffo do a similar, if less elegant, job should lukaku get any injuries.

Not saying Jones is as good or anything like that, but for the role they play and measured against Lukakus current "not-so-keen-to-impress form" a million would get us a reasonable alternative to the end of the season.

I really hope it wont happen, but for a million I won't protest too much. We are always complaining about depth in the squad, and sure Jones is not "quality" depth, but you know he would be useful on occasion as long as his 'tude doesnt affect the squad.

If you watch Lukaku he makes reallt good runs which occupy the defenders. He is contributing even when it goes unnoticed. Jones just stands around.

People going on about the increasing Irish continguent at the club !! It's great I'm in Dublin and you can't get any merchandise at all over here although that's a argument in itself I don't want jones would prefer long or ??? However whoever does come in is squad player !!! And we need bodies in

The Kitbag deal has been a disaster for Irish Blues trying to encourage youngsters to follow Everton.

Every shop full of manky RS, chelski, Citeh, united, etc shirts.

Before that deal Everton shirts were prominent in Elverys, Arnotts, Lifestyle, JD, Champion etc.

We have fans all over Ireland but have to buy in Liverpool or online.......ridiculous if the Club wants to expand the fan base to the next generations in Ireland.

I wouldn't object to Jones IF he was being brought in as cover for the injured Kone, as opposed to being a direct replacement for Jelavic. Off the bench he'd give us a good option, as he's a real handful, but we need a quality replacement for Jela in addition.
He is really poor mate was 4th choice striker at stoke under pulis behind Jerome, walters and crouch.

Errrm no he isn't

He's great in the air & as strong as an Ox, as an opposition CB you wouldn't relish seeing him coming off the bench with 15 left.

His issue has always been his laid back attitude, he's not fired up often enough, but on his day, he's is a real handful, sorry.

Fella, every blue nose has been through the ringer with this club every transfer window. It,s time we started to look at the root cause of the problem not the manager, not the fans but the fellas who sit in the main stand and don,t put a penny into the club.

You can only spend money if you have it to spend mate

Actually, you can spend money you don't have, but that usually bites you in the backside

We're one of the few clubs who actually lives somewhat within our means

Until the club is sold, that's the way it will always be

Not saying I'm happy with that of course, but it means I'm at least realistic when it comes to stuff like this

We do have money to spend, but we need to spend it wisely

EVERY transfer needs to count at a club like ours. We're not like Liverpool who can blow 20 Million on a player they like the look off and still spend again if it doesn't work out

Kenwyne Jones & Arouna Kone... someone pass me that uzi....

I know mate, absolutely horrific. Please don't be true. Surely Everton have got people finding out the fans' feelings on this potential waste of a signing. What a smack in the face it'd be to the fans who pay mega money to watch the team, seeing this fella sit on the bench for the rest of the season picking up 30k a week.

Strange then how he isn't terrifying defenders up and down the league from the stoke bench, or in fact anywhere he's ever played, mate he's a big lad and if thats the definition of what a good striker is he's boss like, if the definition is someone who actually contributes and does anythiong worth while on the field then he is not worth a wage - something even stoke seem to realise now yet we have people advocating it as a decent signing ffs

There's a thing called the internet mate.

No **** sherlock, in that case why bother having any kits in any stores anywhere ^^, 1. not everyone has the internet, 2. not everyone has the ability to purchase on the internet, 3. a lot of footy merchandise is impulse buys with a lad out with his dad etc, not the same when itd done online mate, take it you dont have any kids like

We live within our means because we live off handouts from Sky and whatever we turn on players with no investment from the board. Anyway, I refuse to believe this Jones stuff some posters on here talking up Jones need to get back on their meds.

e-mail Kitbag lad & let them know what a massive opportunity they're missing out on, I'm sure they'll be glad of the advice.
