Silly Season January 2014

Kenwyne Jones is dog****. Lets just make that clear right now.

But i looked at our bench against norwich...and that was dog**** too. Gueye? Vellios? Chirst it was poor and if the starting 11 hadnt done it, then basically we were knackered cos there was no game changer anywhere near that bench.

For a million quid...if the option is him or Gueye to come on and make a nuisance of themselves then id take Jones.

Please say that this post is sarcasm mate, or have you not seen Kenwyn Jones play the last 7-8 years?

I was going to ask the same question! I honestly can't believe some people think signing him is a good idea, feck sake the Stoke fans not wanting him should be a big enough indicator of his gashness. Even as cover I'd still swerve him at all costs.

Doesn't make it right though does it? Surely having a presence in shops in Ireland and other territories would be good to raise Everton's profile?! I think bluesteven raises a valid point.

Btw, called people "lad" is patronising as fukc. Is there any need?

That's the way you've chosen to take it (even though it wasn't in response to you) not my problem, as it wasn't meant that way, so calm down.

Kitbags lack of retail rack space costs them the spontaneous purchase, if anyone wants an Everton shirt they can find one within a click, is it worth getting into a lather about? not for me, each to their own.

Standard dont have any say in it mate, their holding out for his buy out anyways so its 7m now and guess what it will be 7m in the summer too, unless they manage to resign him to a higher buyout which will mean his price rises considerably

Mate prices aren't really inflated in January, and i will take your leroy fer and raise it with a Negredo - Negredo was available in Jan for a lot less than City paid in the summer, fers value plummeted only as i previously mentioned due to entering the final year of his contract, otherwise he'd have cost at least 8m in the summer too.

Whoever comes in as a back up to Lukaku will have one big difference to Jelavic mate, Jelavic knew he wasn't wanted by the manager, he also knew that if not for Kone's injury he would likely have not got on the pitch at all, and he also knew the manager was looking at bringing someone in ahead of him in Jan meaning he'd get little to know time playing, that and the fact he was that unfavoured here now that he was only getting brought on for 10 here and their anyways, an incoming striker would be a integral part of the squad not a afterthough/desperation sub like Jela was
Didn't Standard deny the clause on their website last night?

Not a great translation granted, but the jist was that if someone offered the reported 8 million euros they didn't have to accept.

Regarding Negredo, nobody knows what the price was in January.

We were rumoured to have enquired at around the 14 million mark, but were apparently told to do one in no uncertain terms.

It's widely regarded that generally, the market is over inflated in January.

Kenwyne Jones wants out of Stoke.
Everton have sold Jelavic and have Kone injured; In the market for the Striker.
Jones' agent chucks a story that resembles this to the papers.
2 + 2 = 5.

If the business we do this window ends up being Kenwyne Jones and McGeady It would take the absolute ****.
I'm hoping Bobby will have a few surprises up his sleeve as there is no doubt we had the best window of the summer.
My one concern is that we keep chasing targets that Bobby had when he was at Wigan this is Everton FFS.

For me Jones is a very short term fix (but last resort), would give him a 6 month deal as backup for Lukaku this season, then bring in a 1st team striker in the summer! But to be honest, i think this is just a rumour, can't see it happening myself!!

I also want to know why Vellios can't be classed as backup to Lukaku??? The lad scores on average every 86 minutes in the Prem and was doing well a couple of years ago, untill he was dropped by Moyes, why not give him a chance this year?

Jelavic started ahead of Kone in every game before Lukaku signed. And in one afterwards.

after all is said and done...i cant beleive after the 6 months weve had ANYONE even questions Martinez in the transfer game.

Fans went mad with Barry, McCarthy, Alcaraz, Kone...and all the ones that have stayed fit - were all w4nking over now.

Chill the feck out lids...Martinez has got this!

Mate i'm 39 so getting called lad feels like a compliment these days lol

The standard website seemed to say that unless the clause is met up front they don't have to deal mate, i take it thats where the rumours about us trying to pay in installments comes from, Negredo was reported at being available at substantially lower mate, the reason seville upped his fee was a combination of the second half of the season form for him being better, they qualified for europe i think too and plus they sold a few before him theirfore removing the pressure on them financially to sell, as their pretty much in the situation of having to bring in 15-20m a year in sales due to their wages i think

Jelavic started ahead of Kone in every game before Lukaku signed. And in one afterwards.

Aye mate and their was only one reason he did so, Ramadan left Kone totally screwed match fitness wise, otherwise Jela wouldn't have been starting early doors like either, once he got to a semblance of fitness afterwards the roles where reversed

I reckon its his agent trying to get someone to bid on him too mate, he'd be the one signing otherwise that i'd be wondering wtf martinez thought going for him otherwise and well so far theirs no reason to doubt him in the market

Think velios refused to go out on loan mate, since then i think he has pretty much screwed his chances at everton
