Kone was alrightish at Wigan wasn't he?

Can't really blame him for thinking he was alright

I can at least understand that one as the guy got him goals so he thought he'd be a banker to get him some at Everton early on in his tenure, but I think Lukaku coming in killed any chance of that happening off - that, and Kone's attitude and general gashness.

But Jones I wouldn't be able to understand at all. This isn't a case of "benefit of the doubt" or "right for the price" etc. etc. because he's just downright terrible. This isn't an unknown entity from abroad, a Dutch striker who you aren't sure about - this is a guy who has had a career entirely in England and has done nothing to suggest he's of any sort of calibre. He's what you'd get if you took Lukaku and stripped him of 90% of his ability. He's not remotely comparable to Marcus Bent, as Jones doesn't run. He's languid, but without the ability of Berbatov to get away with it.

Hell, even Stoke don't want this clown at the club! It's depressing to even be strongly linked with him as it feels like we've regressed a decade, if he signs there will be facepalming all over the shop.

It's the message it sends that is more worrying than the actual signing, and the signing is very worrying.

If Baines and Barks are signing new deals that sends a message that we are serious about challenging the top 4 and won't get bullied into selling our prized assets. Then we would destroy that by signing him.

It may be all paper talk and I hope to god it is, but we do shoot our self in the foot in January it seems, when we have a chance to strengthen and get back into Europe.

Would rather keep Jelli

I dont think we are in for Jones, it's all papertalk. But I do think we need options in the forward department. All decent clubs will have a variety of strikers - just something different to try and force the issue when the best laid plans aren't working out. Not a great example, but think of the way Wenger uses Bendtner, or the way Del Bosque throws Llorente into the fray for Spain.

Kenwyne Jones isn't an option though. He's just terrible. He'd be a squad signing for Tranmere, nevermind Everton.

I don't want him but we do need another striker once jela goes.
I hear what your saying even chamakh has woke up but jones is really poor.

There must be better quality available from abroad.

Even players who'd represent a gamble bringing in due to never having played in the EPL would be better. Jones isn't a proven Premier League striker, he's appalling.

Just a thought, saints chairman has resigned manager threatened to last year under these circumstances. give it a week and saints could be in chaos, leaving llalana rodriegez and shaw available?
