Without trying to sound pro-Bill (I'm Certainly not) it has been stated that Roberto may want to hold off buying someone until the summer. So if that is the case we are looking for someone to come in and most likely serve as a back up role. Not many top strikers would come to Everton to sit on the pine. Which is why i was a bit dissapointed to see Jelavic go because he was a servicable backup. But if Roberto isnt positive that Michy is the man to lead our strikeforce in the future then i dont want to drop 7M on him. Sadly we can't afford to spend 7M on a backup right now. Fingers crossed that we are looking to Lukaku on perm in the summer.

Apart from the first few months did we do this for Jelavic? He fed on cut backs, early crosses and through balls. For his second season though we just boomed late crosses into a congested area. We haven't played to a strikers strengths since Yakubu . They have all been sacrificial lambs to indulge our midfield rather than the midfield working for the strikers . That's fine if your striker is Marcus Bent but if it's Jelavic or Lukaku what is the point in wasting them ?

I think the club said that £7million is the point the club has to grant the player permission to chat to the bidding club. However, they don't have to accept the £7million bid.

I know we appreciate the technical stuff but work-rate seems to matter that much more to our supporters in general. The amount of fuming I've heard at Goodison over the years about work-rate is not measurable.

Put the ball into Berbatov's feet and he won't lose it though, the fella can control the ball and pass it, Jelavic cannot. Lukaku can turn and run at defenders, he can overpower them and generally takes a bit of looking after for defenders. The problem with Jelavic is that he doesn't have much else to his game once the goals dry up. That's why the likes of Hernandez can't hold down a place at UTD. The game has moved on.
