Wasn't pointing that out or anything mate. I agree with you, I think we need one striker that is as good as we can realistically afford, and maybe another youngster if we can.

What can we realistically afford though? We all "think" that there is loads of cash in the pot from Arteta, Fellaini, Anichebe and Jelavic deals plus whatever was left from the sky money but in reality its highly unlikely that we will buy a striker of any significant value with the pre-requisite Prem league experience. To that end, if we got Jones in on a short deal from now til the end of the season it would probably represent good business. The money from the aforementioned deals goes towards Barry signing for 18 months(probably) and then a striker in the summer once we know where we are next season ie Champs League, Europa or neither. I dont want Samaras or Jones or Fletcher at this club but sometimes needs must.

Sounds mega negative but unless we get a good look at the balance sheet or the accounts are made truly public we will be forever hypothesizing about who, how much, when etc etc

Samaras is 28 and on a free. He has bags of experience in the CL and as a Greek international. He's played 414 games in total (Dutch League, PL, SPL) and scored 113.

As a striker down the picking order from Lukaku and another yet to be brought in I honestly couldn't see the issue. His wages are probably around 25K at Celtic.

Maybe I missed the takeover and we can now spend 10M on a third string striker?

God help us if we are signing Samaras. Remember him at City?

Well if so, then why are we supposedly looking in the bargain basements?

I dont doubt that RM is being very coy about the whole new "attacking" player he mentioned today, and £5m -£15m is a massive gulf in class of player that could be signed, in all fairness I dont know what £15m gets you in todays market, £5m obviously get a Jelavic/Vic equivalent.
