Done with the moaners , off for a sniffter ,two in was hoping for another but half knew there wouldn´t a big one this window. I´ll leave the should a would a crowd to bleat on and on .But it aint gonna change owt. Lets rip the Villa a new one tomorrow and get back on track.

He got cover for that, then Lukaku got injured. You can't plan for things like that

He's had three days since that happened, which is an eternity really in a transfer window. That just doesn't wash - he's knowing went out of this transfer window with no fit striker.

Great, we can move Mirallas over, a completely unproven entity in that role, simultaneously robbing us of our best inside forward in the process. Square pegs, round holes.

We're not saying we should have spunked £20m up the wall on a panic buy - we're saying that we should have brought in at least one reinforcement to cover the glaringly obvious holes in midfield and attack; especially considering we're 4 points off 4th as it stands.

If the season was a write off and we had nothing realistically to play for, I'd understand completely waiting til the summer - but we're in with a great shout at the FA Cup and we're challenging for Europe! We've let go two high earners and brought in £7.5m this window alone - surely that could have been reinvested and give us a boost, especially after that bloody derby.

You can't really buy players just because of one bad result, our defence was very poor ageist probably the second best attacking team in the league. We could have done with a midfielder, but we didn't get one but if need be someone will have to step up to the task.

Because Martinez said he doesn't like buying players in January, or something.

Even though he was at Finch Farm till half 10 presumably scrambling around trying to get a half decent loan deal in to paper over the cracks.

*shrug*

Crazy mate. Does anyone really think he'd have loaned that big, INJURED, lump if he didn't have the option of something else.

Plenty of good signings have been made in Jan. People are talking like we'd have to bid 8m to get robbie savage out of retirement

I'm better than what?

We've signed two first team players? However people seem to want us to sign Messi. I think a lot of folk need to get real.

I think you're better than telling Evertonians to get a grip simply for having an opinion which isn't positive.

If you read the last few pages back mate i think you'll find most people would have been okay with a centre midfielder as cover and perhaps a striker. Lionel Messi while good isn't quite in our price range.

People are talking about knee jerking etc., where is it ? In this thread it's mainly disappointment that we've not even signed cover for one or two of the two holes in our team, up front and the centre of midfield.

Someone made a good point on Twitter earlier...

Had we signed both McGeady & Traore at the death tonight would people still be upset?

Nope because they got their ACTION. People like to see their club as the centre of the show on Sky's very own Christmas Eve.

We starred last time out. No one did particularly today, but its January and it seldom ever works out a bargain in January.

It was prudence, of course we were looking for players and one might have materialised. Or a few might have, like Barry, McCarthy and Lukaku last time out.

The lack of action would indicate that the players we wanted just weren't there or at a price we consider value for money.

Its all well and good spending ten million on a sexy Spaniard or South American with stepovers but it will serve to appease the fans and not be the right strategy for improving.

Martinez has money to spend - not enough of it in my book like - and will do so in the summer when he is likely to get the players he wants.

Yes it ace that were in with a good chance this season or breaking in that top four but Martinez needs to be looking medium and long term too. If we overshot our hand and bought out of desperation this window it probably wouldn't have worked out and then we'd be shot for spending in the summer too.

I would have loved boss players to look forward to, who wouldn't? But its not always like that. No matter how Sky tries to serve that up to us all.

Hardly any of our competitors strengthened in this window. Were four points off fourth.

Leighton Baines is sex itself and will be doing all manner of naughty things in a blue shirt for many years yet.

Relax, we will be sound.

The problem with looking medium to long term is 4 of our first team players we don't actually own, so thsi team won't be around next year.

I dunno, every year that we're quite good and still don't win anything is to me a year wasted because given our fiances and given the finances of everyone else I can't imagine it lasting too long. We have to try and score while we're on top because it's hard to constantly build teams this good on our budget.

We've spent 7 years being good enough to win something without actually doing it and I would hate to see this team break up a few years down the line without having anything to show for it.

Which is why overlooking the short term I think is a mistake.

And then your spending money (either transfer or loan fee and wages) for someone who will play, what 3 games? CM I agree.

Mirallas will be fine for a couple of games and i think he'll surprise a few
