Single malts

I always think if you buy a Supermarket's own Islay malt you're on to a winner because of the fact there are so few distilleries on the Island, they're all good and it would have to be from one of them.
Personally I occasionally go for the Asda Islay and it's always excellent and clearly from Islay but I will certainly now try the Aldi one, cheers.
Rated at £28Billion ALDI have the clout to do this
Oyster Bay is a top rated NZ wine, a Rep told me they get it from source and relable witha similar label and call it Kia ora Bay
$19 Vs $7same stuff

ALDI good

There has been some really good stuff in Aldi and Lidl the last few years. Kinda takes the piss how good it is for the money.

Lidl's Glen Orchy 5yo blended malt is worth every penny of the £15/bottle it goes for.

Supposed to be pretty decent...used to be released at 15y, if I remember correctly. Let us know how you get on with it.
Well the verdict is..... It's ace!

First thing that hits you is the aroma, it's so intense it fills the room with chocolate and orange scents.

Then the taste. Powerful, intense, Ruby port, chocolate, oranges.... But they complement rather than overwhelm the background malt taste.

The finish is sublime, long and lingering.

Hats off to the men of Tain. Masters of their craft.

So, after 6 months of dram-busting...my daily (well, not quite) is Laphroaig 10, for now. Hard to beat, for the coin.

I just can't justify Loch Gorm as a daily at 3X the price, even though I enjoy it more.

But, the search is young...and I am old, and there is time to kill today...but then one day I'll find, 10 years have got behind...what?

Floyd, lad.

Have you tried the Quarter Cask version from Laphroaig? I think it’s much better than the standard 10yo.

I picked up a Bunnahabhain Moine for £35 but I'm not sure if I'll open it yet as it's difficult to get hold of (at that price). I still haven't opened my bottle of Stiuireadair yet either, however I have got a 12, 18 and Toiteach A Dhà on the go and they all have been lovely, so thinking it's a safe bet with these ones too.

No, but I'm looking for a session dram as of right now and the 1/4 cask is double the cost of the 10 here...I've spent well over a grand on this endeavor in the last 8 months and while that doesn't bother me as a big part of it was just getting a feel for all the varieties, I do need to settle on something, for now. I'll give it a try at some point but it's time to chill on something for a bit. You can only have so many 3/4 and 1/2 bottles clogging cupboards before you start questioning your own sanity.

I’ve just finished the last of my Ardbeg Corryvreckan. Without question the finest I’ve tried, I love the peatiness. Any suggestions what can beat it ?

Bruichladdich Black Art, if you can find it. I've only had it recently at a restaurant (was the 6.1 version), completely on blind luck that they had some. But yeah, give a dram a go, if only for the experience. It may ruin you, though...so be warned.
