Single malts

Have you tried Penderyn mate? I wasn’t fussed but then a mate had a black bottle (shame didn’t take the ‘model’ of it) and it was lovely
I haven't mate, have to say I know nothing about Whiskey, all I know is that I read that Adrian Edmondson novel called The Gobbler back in the day, where the p*ss artist of a lead character always had a Wild Turkey chaser with every pint. One of my mates was going abroad back when Duty Free actually meant something and I got a bottle as a present. It sat in my cabinet for Donkey's years until my mates from Mayo came over for a few days and it was "Ah grand, a bottle of the Turkey, crack it open Comrade" and then it was downhill all the way. It didn't end all that well, as you can imagine.

I ask as somebody who knows nothing about Whiskey or Whisky, but is Tullamore Dew anything like drinkable?
If I were to buy a bottle as a birthday present for someone who likes the odd tipple, would I get frowned at?

Everyone's diff, and I don't know what prices are like on the other side of the Atlantic but, if it's comparable...shoot for Green Spot or Redbreast 12. Those pretty much never fail to do well if you're going down the Irish route.

** EDIT ** Nevermind, they're not comparable in price, even Stateside. But, if you're feeling generous...

Beware of Romans bearing gifts, so the saying goes.
I'm saying this because one of my lads has just walked in with a bottle of Penderyn for me. It's nowhere near my birthday, Christmas or Fathers Day so I'm worried.
In the meantime I'll have a go of this for the first time.
Don't know what to expect so I'll read up on it.
Any body got an opinion on it please.

Drink the whisky before you ask him what he has done.

Had my first glass of Penderyn Celt single malt.
Possibly the sweetest whisky I've had. The slightest of Islay hints keeps it interesting but nowhere near a true Islay malt, tending toward a Speyside as quite a few have said. Smooth drink with a warm afterglow.
Too early to say whether I'd rush out and buy a bottle for myself.

Never been keen on Penderyn.

Word I'm hearing is this is even tough to find in the UK right now (which I find hard to believe), unless that's recently changed...so yeah, broke my code and picked it up. It's like when the Mrs. shoots you bedroom eyes...resistance is futile.

Whass'up Carlito...it's come down quite a bit, I think there were about 800-something new cases today. It was up in the 3-4k per day range when I got back from Colorado about a month ago, so it's getting better. ;)

We've had over a month straight of +/-110 degrees days so if that doesn't kill it I don't know what will, apart from people not being stupid...which is a tough task here. How's things for you?
