That's a great dram! I think the Ardbeg Uigeadail is a little bit better. I would also recommend the Lagavulin 12 Cask strength and various editions from Longrow (Springbank distillery). Longrow 18 are among my favourites.

That’s a good shout thanks. I like the Lagavulin 12, that’s my second favourite
 
Beware of Romans bearing gifts, so the saying goes.
I'm saying this because one of my lads has just walked in with a bottle of Penderyn for me. It's nowhere near my birthday, Christmas or Fathers Day so I'm worried.
In the meantime I'll have a go of this for the first time.
Don't know what to expect so I'll read up on it.
Any body got an opinion on it please.

What version of Penderyn did you get? I have a bottle of legend and it is good (to my taste buds anyhow), but it has a new spirit tang to it.

A few years down the line if they release an age statement version it should be very good.
 
I ask as somebody who knows nothing about Whiskey or Whisky, but is Tullamore Dew anything like drinkable?
If I were to buy a bottle as a birthday present for someone who likes the odd tipple, would I get frowned at?

A cousin gets me JD every year and I let the wife have it with coke not a massive fan but this stuff is really nice. There are different flavours. My brother picked up the Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Nearly blew my rocks off!

That was certainly my experience mate!
 
On another note Aldi’s to a whiskey in a green bottle. I cannot remember what it’s called...it’s about 16 pound but for ‘cheap’ it’s ok

I'm completely in the dark over this, not ever thinking I'd have a bottle to sup.
In answer to your question it seems I have a bottle of Celt. At least that's what's on the bottle.
I'll crack it open tomorrow.
