Single malts

Wife brought home a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label yesterday. Billed me (obvs). Only £17 though. Rather good for a blended whisky.

Yep agree with that , I had a bottle 3 or 4 years ago , sometimes they can be ignored Chivas Regal is good too.

I've always got a bottle in, at 20 quid and below you can't go wrong, tastes far better than a lot of whisky and it stops you draining the more expensive ones so quickly.
Off topic, even if there are some lovely blended whiskies.

This thread is about single malts. Please remain on topic lol

We also talk about blended malts also such as JW green label and that is tasty too.

So stop playing the ref :red:

Oh no I've picked you up on it which means I've played the ref. Damnit I'm stuck in ref-ception.

Anyhow I'm off to find my microstars Koeman spinning top to work out if I'm in the real world or not... :)

That the whole point of JW, in a nutshell.
The Black is OK for what it is and the cost.
All the different colours are better (not red obvs) slightly better but, IMO, but not double or more the cost better.... based on the exorbitant Australian prices I pay.
Its a marketers triumph is all.

100% in agreement here. I'm not a fan of JW, but can't speak highly enough of the quality of Chivas Regal as your daily go to single malt.
I was going to buy a Chivas Regal. With a go then?

My latest cheap try is..

I like it particularly for £18 when possible..

Sorry to go on about Australian pricing but £18 ffs, that's AUD. 33.42, last week I bought it at AUD 66 and thought it was a bargin

Christ on a bike!!!

Its definitely not worth that much...
It's not just Whisky, it's everything.
Back when everything had to be sent from the UK, there might've been a case for a cost increase. But those day are long gone...but not the retailers mark up.
Take Wrangler Jeans, made in Vietnam or Cambodia or such. 4000kms to Australia - 8000kms to the US, still twice the US price.
It's the old - because they can
