Of the Connemara?

Let me know how you get on with it. I like the idea of a peated Irish whiskey.
Never previously keen on Irish stuff if I'm honest, however it seems to be improving.

Connemara was nice, and there's one called Redbreast - that's gorgeous.

it's strange coz I really can hold my drink, but whisky can make me flip

seen some others have posted similar too

why does whisky make me mental ??? is it to with the smoky oakey barrels or what ???

@Groucho @blue1 anyone ?

I'm usually a happy drunk, hooray beer. I've noticed whisky makes me edgier. Not quite "likes to fight guy", but I get a tad more easily riled up. But I don't drink enough whisky to make this a concern. Two fingers on a Sunday night won't find me locked up in a policia truck.

Decanters then....

An affectation by wannabe aristocrats or the ultimate method for displaying and serving your chosen malt?
Does it make any difference to the flavour? Anyone got any particularly splendid examples?

@Groucho , @Blue 1 what do you reckon?

I actually had/have a really nice one. Not because I'm an aristocrat or anything, but my wife's best friend from college sure knows how to pick out an ace wedding present. Didn't use the decanter but a couple times, but LOVED the glasses (or whatever the proper term was)... I had been using Dalmore or Buchanans glasses that come with the holiday gift packs. She asked, in all seriousness, if I liked the gift. I told her I finally had drinking vessels worthy of the Scotch I was drinking.

There is an Irish whiskey called Feckin Whiskey. Comes from a small distillery quite local to me. I've never tried it as I always thought it was a bit gimmicky. I've recently heard it is better than the name would suggest. I'll give it a go and post a review.

Felt like a bit of a treat tongiht so having some of this:

Update...been drinking this beauty since my birthday last week...exceptional! Sensational! What the hell have I been drinking all my life? :whip:

So sweet and smooth.

Johnnie walker Blue is my absolute favorite when i have the rare opportunity to get my hands on it. Generally i stick with the much more middle class friendly Johnnie Walker Black.

never had a chance to try the green label which blended 4 I've seen mentioned quite a bit earlier in the thread. Caol Ila, Talisker, Cragganmore, and Linkwood. I guess it's either discontinued or just not sold in my area.

Still very new to scotch/whiskey after deciding to give up beer in an effort to slim up. So anything recommendations on something similar to JW would be awesome.

Don't leave us hanging bro!!

Real honey and oak on the nose.

Really woody as you'd expect, some berries and liquorice. Well sherried, some candied fruit notes in there. Spicy, fruity finish that lasts a good while.

Different enough and more complex than the standard Balvenie bottlings I've tried (Double Wood and Port Wood 21).
