Sir Landon Of Donovan

If this cost more than 1.5m and a few pre-season friendlies against MLS clubs then I say no.

Have him on loan again for sure, but someone like Niang who is has more to offer and a potential better resale value is better business. Especially considering Landon began talking about retirement only last week.

I don't want him if he costs anything over £3m.
What does £3million get you these days? For a player that we know fits in with the team and could easily play 30+ games for the next 3 and a half years. Plus, and this is the important thing, He's a quality player who has twice came in and made us better.
We'd earn the transfer fee back just because of his name. I think merchandise sales would go to the roof in the states with Donovan in our side. And he's a class player who could play both winger, striker or behind the striker.
and what he ^^ said.

Utd have just spent 24M on a player 1 yr younger with a far worse fitness record than Donovan.

Whilst I agree I wouldn't want to be spending big money on him (due to us not having much) the 3M ish I would imagine he'd cost is absolute peanuts these days for a player of his ability.

£3m is peanuts. He'd coast twice that though.

We are pretty skint and we already bought a 30 year old winger. As much as I would love to see Donovan here again, I wouldn't spend £6m on him. I want to see us reinvest what is left of our transfer budget in some youth prospects, whether that be Niang or someone else.

I'll tell you what, haven't read all this thread, but imagine if all the talking and fawning our players coaches and fans are doing right now happened to one of our current players. We'd be ****ing ropeable wouldn't we? I wonder how LA fans feel about this very public grooming of a player owned by another club/league/whatever.

I think with the Naismith and Mirallas transfers, it makes Donovan kind of repetitive. I have always wanted him back on a perm deal, but now it seems like, for the value he would be going for, it might be better to get a younger player (ie Mirallas) who will have the same affect on the first team.

Would still welcome him back with open arms if he signed, hands down.
