Sir Landon Of Donovan

In Sweden there are roumors about the Swedish international Christian Wilhelmsson, who is currently out of contract, going to LA Galaxy. He is an attacking midfielder and could probably be a replacement for Donovan even though their transfer window has closed.

Purely purely hypothetical question, but if we do get Donovan back in January, what would you all think about a 3 month loan move for Robbie Keane? I know he played for the shi** for a brief time, but he and Donovan have developed a fantastic chemistry over the past few months. He played very well for Villa in his loan stint last year.

ye but look at how many games he plays per season, could he hack a 38 game season, in the MLS he usually averages 27/28 games per season, it a big step up from a 2 month loan deal and expecting him to adapt at the age of 31.

This is not accurate. The MLS season is 34 games. However, he does miss a few for international play and injuries, but that would happen in a 38 season too. In addition, LA plays in CONCACAF Champions League and US Open Cup, which could add anywhere from 4-8 games onto the calendar. Plus, internationals. Trust me, he can hack 38 games, but we won't need him for all 38 if we have depth.

The good thing now is that we wouldn't need him to play 38 games. If we can add him to Pienaar, Naismith, Mirallas plus Coleman and at a push Osman we will have.... I'm not sure what it is but other teams would call it squad depth.I have no doubt we'll see Donovan in an Everton shirt again, personally the sooner the better but if it's january then so be it.

Bingo. Other teams have this ADVANTAGE, and it is one. Let's all remember the big game we had to sacrifice last season, the game we don't like to speak about. Wouldn't have had so much of an issue with actual squad depth.

Doesnt it finish october, november time?. Well according to the great "ITK's" on Twitter, weve agreed a fee with LA Galaxy but the MLS are the stumbling block.

The MLS and all teams have 50% rights to player contracts and it's not as easy as buying from the team, you've to go through both the team and the MLS and by all accounts, the MLS are proving hard to deal with and want to keep Donovan over the pond as they dont want to lose his marketing value he brings to the league and country.

The "ITK" claims we want him now and Donovan wants to come now and today LCAB as backed that up, but not said anything about any bids or anything?!.

So everyone who told me it's only up to LD, clearly it isn't.

And I'm pissed at MLS for it.

I know it's a business, but of all the people to screw over, Landon Donovan? C'mon man. That's just poor.

Free Landon!

On that note - this was a recent problem for both Bolton and Stoke City over the sales of Tim Ream and Geoff Cameron. Both were eventually sold after some negotiations. Now, neither are LD, but both were sold.

Wow. Can't believe this is even a possibility. Also, Landon has had an "injury" the last week or so. Now seriously wondering if he's protecting himself for a transfer.

No way will LA let LD go and Keane simultaneously. LA started their season poor, and Bruce Arena partially contributed it to the offseason loans. If Landon's going, Keane's staying.

The two of them have 20 goals and 17 assists this season. Their partnership has been spectacular.

I think he was referring more to Gonzalez getting injured training in Germany. He's let Beckham go on loan twice, and if Keane really wanted to go, I don't think Arena would say no.

Based on all the publicity I've read this year on this matter as a fan of LA, Arena would say no to any player. With that said, if Keane has it in his contract, might not matter with Arena says. (And Beckham is Beckham and not to be used as an example).

If LA proceeds in CCL all of this is moot - Robbie won't go anywhere.

Jesus Christ.

They've played together for less than a year.

In a jarg league.

Plus, Keane is a chubby, ageing smoker.

Looked decent enough last time considering he's a chubby, aging smoker. And the league isn't as jarg as you say. It's not great, but the MLS teams play pretty well vs English competition when given a chance.

PS- Is it fun for you to live your life with such negativity? I mentioned it as a hypothetical question, and I made that obvious.

Fair enough, you keep this façade that Robbie Keane could do a job for Everton up and I'll focus on hoping Everton completely overlook him and get someone of a much higher quality in.

And it's not negativity, it's called be a realist.
