Sir Landon Of Donovan

It's just people being realistic and planning for the future.

Yeah, we could sign all these old players and our squad would do a little bit better this year. But in the long run, in 3 years, you'll have a squad full of 30+ year olds whose performances are starting to decline, but they're still on big wages and can't be sold for a chunk of money. Then how are you supposed to buy replacements?

It's why all managers buy younger players and are reluctant to sign older ones. However, sometimes you make exceptions (Pienaar to us, RVP to Man Utd) when you can afford to.

For the record, I think we should sign Donovan if the transfer fee/wages are low enough.

We do tend to sell our major assets every summer. I can understand why some fan's look at re-sale, because any player that becomes successful here get's sold. And Felliani will inevitably be one of these within 12 months.

It's shocking. I'd understand comments like that if we were in the 1st or 2nd division. but we are a premier league club who are always finishing in the top half of the league. Were meant to be Everton Football Club FFS!!!

It's not about selling players on for money in the future, it should be about getting players in to take us to the next level. Then hopefully get better players in oncce they have got us to the next level.

I feel sorry for our next generation of fans who are gonna grow up with this mentaity.

Some of it's reality, but I think people are going to the extreme with this. Sure, we don't want to be blowing our transfer budget (if we have one) on aging stars (or aging journeymen...) but at some point the focus needs to be on winning matches now.

It is a reality and totally agree with the transfer part but it's just frustrating listening to fellow fans have to come out with stuff like that. It shouldnt matter about the age, price, future price of players. should be about getting players in to help us win games, trophies and finishing high as we can. Doesn't matter if he has a re-sale value aslong as he does a good for 2-3 seasons and were winning games and playing entertaining football.

How much for the pair?

Apparently we only paid 2million pounds (if this is actually happening) for Niang. Leaves us 4 million for LD. I think we could get him for 3. That doesn't include any potential sponsor kick-in either. And his wages are dirt cheap. Probably an increase in his future for coming here since MLS salaries are so low, but even with an increase he's still...cheap comparatively.

They've played together for less than a year.

In a jarg league.

Plus, Keane is a chubby, ageing smoker.

I absolutely love people who comment on MLS yet have never seen a match.

How do I know this? Because if you had, you wouldn't have called it a jarg league.

He's my favorite player, and I am biased. Still find it offputting.

He's not my favorite player.

I'm not biased.

He'd still help us.

Any Evertonian doubting that he could should go have a word with themselves. I'm tired of all this "Gee...I'm not sure now since he's aged a whole two years."

What numpty thinks a player loses his skills in a two year period at his age?

If Donovan signs, loan or otherwise, he slots right in on the right side and there you go. That's a fact. That isn't opinion and it sure as heck isn't biased.

I'm right. You're wrong.

Next.

If anything I thought he was a better player last season than on his first loan, much like Pienaar we wont get any money back from this purchase, but much like Pienaar, we are getting as close to a guarenteed successful signing as you can get, he plays well for us, its been proven twice (again like Pienaar)

Moyes, make it so

Wow , bit strong txbill..... people are entitled to have opinions. Just because they are not the same as your's it's no ground to tell somebody not to comment.
