Sir Landon Of Donovan

He's versatile too. He can play on the left or right, in the centre and behind the striker. He's versatile, but not in the Naismith 'versatile' where he plays on the right and is crap. He's actually good in most positions.

"Donovan has outplayed Osman"?

Im not sure thats valid, Osman plays CM, Donovan would have to "out-play" Mirallas and Pienaar, something he cant do.

If they're competing for a spot behind Jelavic, I'd have Donovan over Osman. That's IF Felli would be playing beside Gibson instead of his current role. And Pienaar has been poor recently and Mirallas injured all the time.

Not what I'm saying at all. We've passed it around very well this year. We're not a long ball team. I just don't think we need Fellaini up the pitch to win those "long balls" if that's not our game. Donovan has outplayed Osman the two times he's been in on loan IMO. I like Osman though. No doubt he's still a quality little player in my mind, but I do see Landon as a boost.

Our way of playing is basically we get the ball wide and then work it in, either into the box or laying it back to Osman to blast wide.

Fellaini is useful because he can win aerial balls and then lay it off to the wings, which gives us an easier way to get the ball there then by playing it from the back. If the opposition press up on Gibson and Osman we can hit the ball towards Fellaini and if the opposition drop back Gibson can pick the ball out wide himself. You play Mirallas or Donovan up there and the worry is that we'll lose one of our two ways of playing and become easier to stop.

Hes not been at his best, but I still think hes playing "ok".

He's been losing the ball a lot but he still gets on the ball such a lot. It's just instead of making 100 successful passes out to Baines a game, he's only making 80.

One of the things I like about Pienaar is he always shows and is always difficult to shrug off the ball.

That's valid. Strategy should always be contingent upon opponent, game flow, etc. Right now we're lacking a solid partner for Gibson, and I think it would offer a bit more stability in front of the back four while at the same time allowing for a bit more creativity. We'll never know until it's tried, but I see your point. A lot of talk about a move that is more than likely not going to happen, but it's still fun to discuss the what ifs.

Be careful guys. I'm not sure Landon is the player that some of you think he is.

Over his career he has proven to be an unreliable footballer. This past MLS season, like every season the past few years, Landon talks about retirement, fatigue, and how he thinks he's losing his passion for the game. Additionally, throughout his career thus far, he's proven to be a player that can simply disappear on the pitch for matches at a time. He's streaky at best

If you sign him to a big contract, this is the kind of player that you are signing. Additionally, bear in mind that Landon is 30 now, and he's already noticeably slowed down from a couple years ago. He's well past his prime and he grows weary easily

Basically what I'm saying is, don't sign Landon Donovan. If you sign him, I predict you'll come to regret it in a couple years. As an American, hes one of my most favorite footballers. But I really don't think he's right for Everton

Still can't see this happening.

I'd give it a percentage of about 13.SEVEN% chance of him rejoining us currently.

We've usually heard by now have we not?

I think Brennan was being generous, I reckon Piennar's been shocking all season bar one or two games.

Donovan would be an improvement on what he's shown up to now although we all know he's capable of better.

He'd certainly be an improvement on Naismith who's playing a lot of football for us at the moment.
