....mad in work today, so sadly only just found out. Immediate thought was the same as posted by @the esk, he resisted the clamour to sack Kendall and the rest is history. Thanks for the memories.

Met him after the first ever "Hall of Fame" 'do' at The Adelphi. We were very, very hammered on the way out and he handled my mate's arm round him, imploring him to "come The Paradox with us, Phil, lad" with dignified aplomb. As we staggered out, he said "have a splendid evening, gentlemen". Topped off a tremendous night.
 

Once asked him on Goodison road,if he could get me a ticket for a derby game at the Pit ? The things you do when you are desperate.
