For me that's too risky relying on youngsters . We need at the minimum a reliable spine. We know what we are getting with pickford, lewin and Richarlison. They are good enough for midtable.

Whilst I agree, I think there is a reasonable chance that Richarlison and DCL will both leave.

At various points in the last three or four years, the likes of Gomes, Delph, Iwobi, Sigurdsson, Bernard, Davies and Schneiderlin have been candidates for being told that they won't see another minute in an Everton shirt.

Could give the club a pass on Tosun and Gbamin, as their injuries have made them very difficult to shift.

There are plenty of others that I'd like to see the back of, but I think most of them will fetch a buyer easily enough, albeit at a loss on what Everton paid for them.

Think you’re probably right, sadly. Seems every season for years we’ve said we need a massive clear out. It never happens, we go into the new season with the same players who’ve failed and surprise, they fail again.

We’ll lose a few through contracts expiring but will we be able to move on the likes of Gomes, Gbamin etc. doubt it. I wouldn’t even be surprised to see us give Delph a new contract.

It’s such a mess, links to the likes of Tarkowski seem to fit the standard operating pattern. Sigh

You have to tell the premier league who you're retaining and releasing on the last Saturday in May, in order to give them a chance to find a new club.

Edit: he'll get paid to the end of June, but if he's not on the retain list its vanishingly unlikely he'll be staying.
