We are not a bigger club then Everton - But we are sure run as a bigger club.

Southampton wage bill - 14th highest in Premier league
Record transfer fee - 14.5m
Stadium - 32,000

Everton wage bill - 7th highest in Premier league
Record transfer fee - 28m
Stadium - 40,000 (with view of moving to 55,000 - 60,000 stadium)

How exactly are you run as a bigger club? Because over the past five seasons Southampton have sold 142 million worth of talent. We are classed as a selling club but your club takes it to new levels.

What Everton have been, is a club that has been severely hamstrung financially because it was overtaken by a local guy who couldn't even afford to buy the club, let alone spend money on it. NOW, that Moshiri is here, Everton can finally reach it's potential. All the shackles that were placed on the club over the past 20 years are off.

The stats above are stats BEFORE Moshiri came along. We have massively underachieved this season, whereas your lot have massively overachieved.

Reality.

We're widely regarded as one of the better footballing sides in the league, not that you'd know consider we were absolutely horrendous against your lot on both occasions. We tend to run a 4-2-3-1 with attacking full-backs and a striker with a big aerial-threat (i.e. Pelle/Long). I'm 90% confident he's going to go for Ziyech and Janssen straight away.

Janssen
? - Ziyech - Deulofeu
Besic/? - Barkley

Would be an early prediction but I could obviously be way off and I have no idea how much you're going to invest in certain areas. I think a big thing for him will be keeping Stones, he loves his ball-playing defenders and has developed van Dijk to instantaneously become one of the best CBs in the league.

Also worth pointing out that I am not inbred and no longer live in the city.
If he plays that team he might find himself winning me over very quickly.

Although I'm not too sure how good ? is.

Hello mate, thanks for taking the time to come on here and post. Try not to let some of the (very) dry wit get to you, it is all meant in jest. We tend to reserve the REAL bile for ourselves on here.

I've seen a couple of references to the "Black Box" on some Southampton forum posts and I was wondering if you mind explaining what this is? We have a regular poster on here who gets all his opinions on overseas players from a black box, but I suspect it isn't the same one you are referring to...

It's all good, I have a dry sense of humour and in truth as mentioned in the my post, kind of getting used to the yearly meltdowns so I am learning not to 'lose it' too much (only run around screaming and punching walls for a good hour or so now!). It does of course help that I support the biggest and bestest team in the world, we are just hiding our greatness as we are also modest and noble and do not want to make others feel jealous or inadequate. You're welcome ;)

That is a good black box but you are right, not the one being referenced. I have posted a link (hopefully it works) to a guardian article that mentions it. I remember Paul Mitchell (now head of recruitment at Spurs) talking about it on a youtube tour when our staplewood training facility was new, so you could probably look for more info. on that on youtube.

Basically though, it is a room with limited access, but it seems to have digital records / clips, performance profiles of players (and managers for when we need a new one) from all around the world, I am guessing the data inputs are from our scouting teams, with our analysis team compiling that data. Its purpose being a central hub at the training facility where key people can review the options for replacement that would fit into the different positions (along with the strengths, weaknesses, etc.). So, if we lose someone, the people who need to be involved in the replacement can review the best options of who is out there who can replace them. Supposedly it provides video clips, I am sure it will have stats, etc. The 'black box' makes it sound mysterious, the name has stuck.
The idea and benefit is that supposedly we always have at least 3 replacements identified for anyone (player or staff), so that we can react to any crisis quickly without panicking and confident that we have the right person (and if we cannot get that person then there a suitable 2nd choice, 3rd choice, etc.). I am only going on what I have seen, heard, read over the years.

Well I would say from your own summery that we are run like a bigger/better club.

We have pratically lost our whole team & two managers and we still finish above Everton.

That's not a coincidence & it's not over achievement it's just a bloody well run football club.

Which leads many a saints fan curious to why Ronald would leave for Everton.

Yes you may want to get to that point of how Southampton is run but this is not an overnight solution and yes you have a owner that is now willing to invest.

But seriously what will £150m war chest get you in this market and once again it's just chucking money at the problem.

We don't chuck money around but still finish above teams that do

The point of all this is that the idiot that was "managing" Everton is now gone.

That was and is the sole reason for Southamptons higher league placing.
