I thought Southampton played quite well, their full backs where very good defensively and they pressed us well. I don't think we played terrible, but you give yourself a mountain to climb if you concede TWO own goals, and for that reason I thought we were unlucky today. I don't think they would have scored against us on their own without our help.

I thought Lakaku and Deulofeu were terrible, and Barkley was very quiet. Naismith was our best player by a mile, thought he was fantastic all game. Osman and McGeady both looked good when they came on and changed the game.

If the referee wasn't a complete clown then who knows, we might have been able to salvage something, but at the end of the day, there were too many players who didn't turn up today, couple that with some bad luck and that's that...

Never said that - davek spoke very clearly about pressure when in a controlling position and expecting to push on. The games against Arsenal and United are very different circumstances to Palace and Southampton. The ability in this squad is massive and we've proven it again and again, but the mentality to apply it falls over in certain situations over and over again too and that's the point being made.

Actually agree with this. It has to be a mental issue if we can put away Arsenal and United convincingly when the pressure is off us, but fold like a house of cards when we play lesser opposition when there's something to be had as a result of the win.

Too many Moyes era players perhaps, I dunno, but that doesn't explain McCarthy and Barry not turning up today, or the absolute LOL performances of Lukaku and Deulofeu.

Okay.

Disagree mate, the Arsenal game was the single highest pressure game of the season and probably our best performance, also the United game has as much pressure as this, simple fact is we just don't play anywhere near as well away from home yet under the new system etc, think a lot of the times we have been overlooking this, we also see that the squad struggles with a slew of injuries as well and we are a centre mid a striker and a play-maker short even with a full squad.

All in all, this season has been a great one for Martinez's first in charge and surpassed my wildest hopes coming into it.

It goes without saying I think that too. It's not him though. He's a diamond.

I disagree the Arsenal game was the pressure game. We were the outsider looking to pull back on Arsenal;. The real stress games are the ones where you have your head in front or are neck and neck. We dont produce. Martinez is dealing with some flawed characters in that dressing room.

Maybe bottling [Poor language removed] is the wrong phrase to use, but they are not a set of players with any great amount of belief, that's for sure. Been saying this all season about getting the Moyes stain out of the club. This is precisely why.

Difficult to think of any player who lived up to their reputation today. McCarthy was OK; Stones and Alcaraz look like the centre back pairing from hell; both full-backs subdued; Barkley invisible; Del can get the next flight back to Barcelona; Naismith disappeared 2nd half; Lukaku was Lukaku - lazy and inept; and Osman was, well, just Osman.
Still think we'll beat City

Agree, Lukaku was poor before his injury, really picked up after his rest and is now fading a bit. Barry in particular at 33 has had a bery tough season.

Spot on legs, the players who this season have either played well more minutes than previously or at least than they have for 4-5 years are showing it, Barkley, Lukaku, Delefeou and Barry are all looking fatigued, shows the need to have the quality depth we all want

We really miss pienaar , I also believe we need a creative ball player next year besides the 20+ goals striker
