I'm going to have to get off the forum for a bit, all this Everton sadness is overwhelming me, need to take my mind away from football for a bit.

Cup is definitely still half full though lads, Newcastle are ready for a big MNF win against the Arse, and we'll surprise City and steal 4th against all the odds. Get your bets on now.

Errrrm, those results would still need Arsenal to drop more points.

Feels like the season is truly over, but isn't it amazing that things were still in play until this game? Still hugely grateful for all that Roberto's brought to the club: both material (in terms of points tally and quality of play) and immaterial (his positivity, his pride in our club, and his general humanity--his words at Hillsborough were truly moving) and I'm still proud of the way the team performed this season. Beating UTD at OT. The two performances against Arsenal. The points tally. Our possession. All the goals scored from open play. Bringing though young players like Stones and Barks. And the way we've played some games has been absolutely class. Among the most attractive teams to watch in the league. And so many players have their best years ahead of them. Baffled by some of our poorer performances (Liverpool, Soton), but I think that's mental and we'll get there. 5th is probably about right this season. We need some astute work in the transfer window (Roberto's record here has been mixed tbf) and kick on. It's been a great ride.

Not to finish top 6 would require all 8 games still to be played by us, Utd and Spurs to go against us ie we lose both ours, Spurs win both theirs and Utd win all 4 of theirs. Not going to happen......is it.............?

We are fine for top 6 but would be a blow not to get 5th now.

Spurs have a tough away game next week and United have to play Southampton away so none will likely get maximum points.

If we can't get a point from the next 2 games it's a poor show

Also I can't be the only one that thinks this but this team is very bipolar this season. A good deal of our victories this season have seen some fantastic football and good performances, but our losses have looked poor more often than not.

Bit harsh on the manager who has us playing better football and has got us more points than ever in the EPL. He has got his team selection right more times than wrong.......just look at the league table....then apologise for hurting Roberto's feelings.

No, he is supposed to know his players and their positions to get the best out of them, not questioning previous games which on the whole he has excelled.

I know mate, No idea what the clown is playing at

What formation do you think he should try out against City?

He was certainly not helped by Barklay who seems to have lost the plot, needs a good talking to , to wake him up.

Upfront to me no choice but Del on the righ ,Nais in centre and Luky on the left.

It happens. Stones and McCarthy can come out with their heads held high, had decent games, but if you play below par at a team with quality like them, then you will be punished. Let's group together, get 5th, and start next season, a year under Martinez, with players more used to the system, Kone, Oviedo and Gibson to play a part, Barkley, Stones, McCarthy, Deulofeu etc etc a year older and more Martinez buys in and around the squad. Unless you are winning leagues, then you will see your team not turn up from time to time, no major problem here. Onwards and upwards COYB

What annoys me is the amount of times we've lost in games having not scored.

Chelsea 1-0
Liverpool 4-0
Sunderland 1-0
Tottenham 1-0
Southampton 2-0

5/7.

Disappointed in our performance today, but thought Southampton were the better team and deserved the win. To get into Europe next season will be a great achievement in Martinez's first season and I'm happy overall with how it's gone.
