is that net or gross revenue? it's all very well pulling in an extra 10M, but if it costs you £8m to earn it, and another £2M to service the debt you took on to get it, all it's doing is boosting your turnover, but making you no better off..

.. sorry to but in, the thought just occurred.

I'm naturally a cynic so I presume it is gross :)

This stadium is just not going to happen. Even the Government Advisors seem to be against it.

We are not convinced by this masterplan that there is a clear understanding of the space required for managing large crowds converging on the stadium. Also, we do not feel that an inspiring sense of arrival, as one would expect to have upon approaching a stadium of this size and significance, has been achieved. This stadium will be a prominent figure in the landscape in all directions, however, the pedestrian approaches to the stadium lack coherence, meandering from the railway station or drifting across car parks. On match days, the continued to operation of all uses appears likely to be controlled by crude boundary treatments.

As a comment on the brief for the stadium at Kirkby, we would welcome further information about the use of this facility on non match days. There is a risk that when not in use for matches, the stadium will be inactive, with a detrimental impact on the public realm around it. We think that, to be a genuine catalyst for regeneration of the town centre, the stadium should be designed to accommodate a variety of uses. These could include links with local schools, use as a music venue, conference facilities or for other sporting activities.

We are concerned that the stadium design is being delivered by a Design and Build contractor. It is our view that Design and Build contracts can produce successful outcomes only when high quality design is embedded in the process; we do not feel that this has been achieved in this case.

I dont understand?

If 40,000 people can get to Goodison, 50,000 could get to a ground in Kirkby  - Or is that not your argument?

the so called enquiry news is just a lame attempt at propaganda and scare mongering.

"theres going to be an enquiry " is just bs. its a nothing threat .as we are miles away from being in a position where an enquiry can even be thought of.

whats next ? "the stadium is a death trap!" before a single brick is put in place ?

and as for sefton council ?!!! well who the hell are they to have an opinion on something that has nothing to do with them ?
.
im sure the investment in kirkby would lead to more redevelopments of surrounding areas such as bootle and southport (they need it) so in the end would benefit them too.

i like the way tw call themselves non biased but cleary are with there constant postings of hollow threats and non news concerning the kirkby move.

What the CABE report, and the subsequent Sefton objection state, is what many people were concerned about... that the Stadium is a bit of a half-arsed lash up. No coherency of design, insufficient time and effort given over to the logistics and realities of operating the Stadium in that location with the shared infrastructure and all that entails.

This would always be a risk when the Stadium is, to all intents and purposes, a Planning enabler for the retail development. It's an afterthought. Who here really believes that Bill and Keith are central to driving the development forward? and who believes that they are letting Tesco and their advisors run with it and waiting to see what they get?

An advisor to the Dept of Culture and Local Communities (issued grants to carry out their research by that Dept.) sees the Tesco plan for the regeneration of Kirkby as not up to snuff for the town of Kirkby...and rubbishes the efforts of Barr Construction who are pencilled in to do the proposed stadium on the cheap...that's 'lame'?

And four surrounding local authorities preparing to kick up a fuss for a judicial review if Tesco/Knowsley's plan to re-write planning laws isn't called in is just them not knowing it'll really be beneficial to them?

The fat lady is waiting in the wings on this one now.
