Stadium Thread - ALL Kirkby/Stadium Discussion Here

the aspect of the spurs design that sounds good is the emphasis on the supporters being as close to the pitch as possible to encourage a more intense & intimidating atmosphere. i also like the sound of the stadium being designed to encourage supporters to get there earlier & stay later making the whole match-day experience focussed in & around the stadium - all of which would make sense for the kirkby proposal based on the transport plan!

i don't have a problem with kirkby as a location as such, although it may not have been my own first choice, but i don't think the club have done a very good deal with tesco. however, that is secondary to the limitations of the transport plan - i fear the arrangements outlined could see many people start to cherry-pick their matches & average attendances fall as a result. this in turn would jeopardise the anticipated additional revenue from the new stadium & the modest additional profit hoped for could then even turn into a loss the club can ill-afford.

This says it all really...

David Keirle on his remit from Everton: "[He said] stadia are very expensive to build and he was aware of many proposals that had begun in a "blaze of glory" and had "never seen the light of day". He said it was crucial for Everton that this proposal was deliverable and he said that "from day one this had been designed to budget" and to a realistic budget."

David Keirle on his remit from Spurs: "Daniel [Levy] made it clear he wanted a world class stadium, he wanted to do things slightly differently. We wanted to give fans the best possible experience and recreate the atmosphere at the current stadium, and that's been the single most important factor as we've gone along."

...two football clubs which Mr Elstone believes occupy 'the same peer group' one with a vastly different vision of the future than the other. A more telling indictment of the negligent management of Everton FC you could never come up with.

But.....we already know this.
Spurs are in the same peer group on Football terms in the modern game which is what Elstone meant - same as Newcastle, Villa and Portsmouth are. They're not a top 4 club, they have a large fanbase, challange for top ten places, good cup runs etc -- on Football terms, they are.
On financial terms....no way, just like we're not on the same financial terms as Newcastle or Villa.

If Levy can afford a £200mill+ stadium in the current climate, then he can. But I bet you that stadium gets redesigned and goes through problems.

We cant afford that. We have a budget and we're trying to build a stadium to that budget. If it goes over and we cant afford it, we wont move.

Sad but true. We all know this.

Nick the only ambition at the club is to move to Kirkby and then sell up,so why would Kenwright or rather the guys pulling his strings care they are NOT Everton fans and just want a return on the cash Bill begged off them.to be honest I think to call us the peoples club is a piss take.as the people who count don't care what we want.I could accept Kirkby IF the figures added up to a huge profit but it just will not happen to many things wrong not just access but limitations on what we can use the ground for and a few other things that Bill and his cohorts have glibly sailed over.

Sure I agree there, but what can be done? I really believe that if Kenwright was given a right royal kick up the arse by the fans, he would shift a little bit more. However, him being a Blue, he knows that we don't do [Poor language removed] all unless its RS related (ie Peter Johnson situation).

you need to replace the word "we" with the words "the current board of Everton Football Club"

because it is they who cannot afford a decent stadium, designed with the fans in mind

replace them with someone who can, and we can have whatever we want

Who will that be then? 1 of the fictional people interested?

You do realise they also have to compete against the likes of Arsenal and Spurs there?

And what about clubs like Aston Villa or others who have been bought out in the recent that are not located in London?

Haha who needs a buy out we made a profit today, any of the teams you mentioned make a profit?

Kenwright is ace fact!

Yay!

Last season, £9m loss

This season, £24m extra money through the books, and a £30k profit!

We've increased turnover to a record level, and made a profit.

We DESPERATELY need a new stadium on the back of those financial results....

Really you are farcical

You seem to think I thought that was a bad thing

How odd - farcical almost

Still, a turnover of £75m - at Goodison Park - imagine that eh?

Turning a profit without selling Wayne Rooney - at Goodison Park - imagine that!

The sooner we ditch that unprofitable hell hole the better I say!

Pffffft!
