Simple, never drink & fly....originally the Emperor had introduced a strict penalty points system for drink flying when he was in power....the rebellion had promised to relax these, but once in power they broke that promise...
You called these aliens in the bar Scum, but that's just racism mate, they were simply sound aliens out for a good night on the beer, and had walked to the bar from all ends of that planet so as to not endanger anyone else with their drunk flying on the way home....

On a related note, never go to a bar with Obi-wan Kenobi, he's no craic at all...

Also, a few scenes in the trailers were cut? Like in the first trailer when Rey jumps on her landspeeder in a hurry or when someone (an alien) hands Leia Luke's old lightsaber? Unless I forgot those scenes.

Late on this, but apparently Maz Kanata went to the Resistance base in an earlier cut. According to JJ, at the time the trailer was produced, that scene was still in the (then) current cut of the movie.

yeah, heard they cut about 20 minutes out of it.

I had the feeling that was the case (few pacing issues). I expect their to be an extended edition at some point.
