Yeah. There's only five weaker players from our first team in it for me. A not ready gibson instead of barry, oviedo instead of baines, robles instead of howard, naismith/mirallas and barkley/heitinga.

Martinez main mistake for me is not making subsitutes quickly enough and not bringing on his attacking players when he did make subs.

Yes but the risk to reward ratio isn't there - you get to the final and lose, and you gain next to nothing monetarily and you've cluttered your fixture list with extra games that are almost meaningless to the business.

And Everton are a business. There's a reason the League Cup is treated as it is by Premier League clubs - it's surplus to business requirements.

It is a business, sure. Though not one run for profit, as a rule.

But I'm not a share holder so my desires for everton are not about the bottom line. And I don't see why they should be.

I'm not too arsed about it now but Tubey started a thread for a reaction after an argument he had with Brennan and got called out on it as such. Now like most threads on here its reduced to arguing nuances.

To be fair, and im not privy to the previous argument, but there were people just having a pop and I have yet to read one of those posts coming from Tubey himself.

He was being fired with bullets, for me, for no real reason.

And to be honest Ive found some of the points quite interesting to read!

Nah, he played quite well but Jagielka is surely a better defender than Stones for now.

Lukaku coming in for Naismith was a positive although he tailed off after a bright start.

So that helps displace your second point about what the rest of the managers are doing doesn't it? And besides as has been stated numerous times were in a position to win it and get the easiest passage into Europe, as well as winning a cup for the first time in nineteen years.

The reason Liverpool have played a full team is because they are away at Utd on the back of a loss at home to Southampton.

For those reasons together and individually David Brent was never going to show up with a scratch 11.

Had they won 3-2 away from home at west ham and had fulham away, i think he would have made changes

Youth and fringe players obviously need chances when possible, but it's all about getting that mix right. That's why Martinez played Stones and Oviedo but not Vellios or Gueye, because he felt that team selection was the right mixture of youth and experience to get us through the match. Clearly he got it wrong.

But your talking about players there as an example which are nowhere near the first team.

The team he picked last night are all players who are quality players/internationals.

The mix was fine, the team was fine, and this was proven by the domination of the first half.

The issue is the players dropped off and submitted to the totally different tactics of fulham in the second half.

First half against West Ham was the same, yet because there wasnt 8 changes, it was because West Ham played well. 2nd half last night, people want to find something to blame.

Fulham played well and we didnt second half, thats all. Itll happen plenty of times this season WITH our first 11
