If this new Dutch DOF is going to happen I hope it happens quickly
The new man needs at least 4 months to look at the squad , sort out who to keep , who to bin off , who we need and most importantly who our new manager should be.
Basically Moshiri needs to find someone he can trust and give him Carte Blanche to do whatever is needed to get the club back on track.
One thing Dutch clubs are renowned for is their promotion of youth and their academies.
My only fear is that this man has worked closely with LVG before and we may end up with him as our new manager.
While he won the FA cup with Manure his style of play and his man management did not go down well with their fan base

Alternatively he could just read GOT for all his needs and put Zat in charge of under 16 recruitment

I used to laugh when Moyes was regarded as a genius in football circles for his "three blackboard" approach to squad planning.

He had one which had the current team on it and their ages - listed out in formation with the name of the backups (from first team squad + youth system) written below each name.

He then had a second blackboard which had his ideal team in 3 years on it. This included players they believed would become first teamers from the youth squad and signings they would actively pursue.

The third blackboard had a list of targets for each position in order. The rules were we would sign any player if they would improve us, but that we'd only spend money on signings if they had the potential to increase in value (so <25 years old).

Sounds pretty basic? You'd think this was what everyone would do?

Nope.

Seems that basic forward planning does make you a genius in football.

Once you are swapping managers around every 1-2 years they don't care about long term, incremental improvement.

So you need a Director of Football to plan the squad. But if you have a DoF planning a squad you need to (1) let him do it (2) ensure the first team coach agrees with the DoF on how the game should be played.

Walsh pushed for Allardyce. That means he has to go.

IF there’s substance to this story (it’s the Mirror after all)

The story is also from De Telegraaf, a respected Dutch paper I believe.

This is a quote from The Mirror article but it's used to show what kind of players he's had: "Brands has made around £200million in transfer revenue for PSV by recruiting and later selling the likes of Gino Wijnaldum, Memphis Depay and Kevin Strootman".

A breakdown of De Telegraafs report by a Dutch speaker on Reddit: "De Telegraaf from this morning confirms that Everton is interested in Brands, they're a reliable Dutch paper. They say Walsh is mainly focused on the actual scouting of players and Brands would become more the traditional Director of Football".

The key difference is that those players would not be given the time to develop in the current Everton team. Its really difficult for young players to develop, let alone in a struggling side, were the fans are baying for the managers blood and the fans boo the team off at half time and full time.

The other thing is the standard of the league, I think some of our U23's would look amazing in the Dutch league, but they are still not ready for the premiership.

That all may be true mate, but the point of all this is that this guy is a DOF. Like, he actually knows what the job entails, unlike our glorified scout that we currently have in that position. He'd have to be an improvement on Walsh, mainly because Walsh has been utterly abysmal.

Hope the rumour is true. Walsh has cost Everton a mind boggling amount of money and in return we have a team of unbalanced and gutless passionless strangers. It will likely cost another mind boggling amount of money to repair his damage. Should have been gone when Koeman was sacked.
