How is he a Judas? Ask the other Nu-Rangers players who also took a 75% haircut for a few months and aren't leaving. And then ask yourself if one of the overpaid players we have now did a similar trick whether you wouldn't want also call them Judas.

I'm with you partly Davek. I won't have a problem with a single Rangers player who leaves, I see it more as an absolute show of loyalty for anyone like Lee McCulloch who have said they will play div3. The problem Rangers fans have with Naismith's loyalty is his claims that he suports the club, and when earlier linked to a move away he attacked the journo on twitter.

But then he goes and rips up the contract before anything about which division has been annouced. He could at least wait untill he finds out which division we will be in, or discuss re-signing and being immediately put up for sale if he is such a Rangers fan.

That being said I hope he does come down to Goodison and has a 25 goal partnership with Jelavic.

Lee McCullogh can say that coz he's old and ****.

Naismith is young and can't be wasting at least 3 years of his career pissing about in the Scottish lower divisions.

I'd love him, Abel Xavier/Nevs dodgy highlights aside we haven't had a blonde icon since Alan Biley...

Well said mate. He's a ****ing rat looking for a big pay day.

As I said erarlier: what would anyone here think of a player who left Everton under suich cicumstances? They'd despise the snide. Fact.

Tbf to Naismith I'm sure it's not as simple as allowing that contract to go over to the new company and ask them to sell him. Once he let's the contract go over to the new company I imagine he would have to re negotiate for a sale price ect... It's looking more likely that rangers will not be aloud back in the SPL and Naismith really can't take a chance of getting stuck at rangers who "could" try make him stay whilst playing in the lower end of Scottish football.

Would you trust a new owner in his possistion??

Would you stay with employers who you knew would struggle for the next 3 years, or would you try to better yourself?

It's easy to sit behind a keyboard and call some one a snide, but reality is, if you are going to waste 3 years, do you accept it or look for what you want? Yep, there will be more money, which is a factor I'm sure, but he will be at a club pushing for honours (so he will hope) and honours is what any footballers career is about.

A team cannot make a player stay for the duration of their contract against their wishes, Naismith could easily organise a deal out of there by kicking up a fuss and not playing or paying out his own contract exactly how contracts work.

The other point is Rangers find out where they are playing on the 5th of July, he doesn't have to opt in or out of the new contract before then, he could have waited a week and said sorry I'm not playing div3. So there was no chance he would get stuck he is just looking for a big sign on payout.

I'd wait, like the vast majority of the rest of my teammates, to see what the situation was first before stabbing the club who'd been paying my wages since I was 18 years of age in the back...the club I supported as a kid (apparently).

Not an unreasonable request for the owners of this newco to make I wouldn't think.

The trouble here is this: we've been conditioned to accept the greedy, grasping behaviour of footballers so muich we cant see the wood for the trees anymore.

If he acts like a treacherous money grabbing rat, that's what he is as far as I'm concerned. As I've asked a couple of times now in this thread: tell me you wouldn't despise any Everton player in similar circumstances doing this.

different circumstances i know but a certain w.rooney did it, i don't like the little tit

overall, if i got chosen to play for everton, nothing would make me want to leave, not even being sent to the 3rd division. Depends on how much naismith truly supports rangers though, he could just be a glory hunting fan from an early age and therefore will of course not have as much passion for his team compared to us toffees. Overall, he has a job which needs to accumulate enough money so that by the time he's 35/36 he's set up for life so you can't blame him massively, he's just thinking of his future rather than becoming a club cult/hero. Sadly it is the way the sport has gone and he's not the first and certainly won't be the last

How much do you think the average Rangers player gets these days? It wont be massive amounts.

If I worked for a firm who was having major problems and may be wound up I would be off if a better offer came. Footballers are no different.

In an ideal world footballers would be loyal and all that but they aint. They are no different from anyone else in terms of wanting to make more money and going on to new challenges.
