Despite being out injured I think west Brom were strongly interested him when fairly decent fees were mentioned , I think a few clubs have maintained an interest him. To be fair even if that wasnt true & nobody was in for him when Jelavic was available the only people interested were Moyes & Big Sam whilst most others shared Warnocks opinion that 'he wasn't up to it' . I'm not really qualified to talk on Naysmiths abilities with any real knowledge but the lack of other interested parties (which I'm not sure is the case anyway ) wouldn't necessarily mean he's not good enough for the Prem.

Paper talk fed by agents. If we had any money this feller wouldn't be getting a look in at Everton. Moyes is operating picking the flesh off a dead carcass of a club in hope rather than expectation.

That's pretty much all there is to understand here.

Snide.

If this happened to Everton I'd be gutted with this type of player trying to wrangle away.

I'm not a regular poster on here mate so don't really know the personalities but even checking a few posts can see your spot on with some of your points including the kenny moyes stuff which most seem to ignore (although I don't think it's anything as dirty as corruption ). I do think though other clubs have had an interest in Naismith even prior to him leaving on a free but I'm not sure we would be buying him if he was on a fee although possibly due to our financial situation rather than his abilities.

Just out of interest, how many times have you seen Naismith play?

He sounds like a player that should have been playing in the Premiership long ago then. I wonder why no one took a chance on him until he became available for a large signing on fee?

WBA had a bid rejected in April. Several clubs were supposed to be monitoring him before his first injury. Plus, it's hard to gauge the qualities of any player when they operate at a lower standard. You'll likely recall that Cahill and Lescott didn't exactly start a bidding war.

Nobody's saying he's world class. You're saying he doesn't have the quality to step up, but you haven't shown any indication you're aware of what type of player he is. Plus your creditability is somewhat limited in that area. I don't judge you for being a masochist, supporting a team that brings you nothing but sorrow. And I won't judge you when you’re sitting in your armchair, watching Naismith's debut, stiffening at the sound of his cruciate snapping weep-w*nking yourself to sleep. But I've seen him play quite a lot and think he's okay. It's not a bad thing that we're signing him for very little.

I think hes a decent player and adds more to our squad than what we have already. Hes 25 and has been rated for a few years.

Moyes has a good reputation for bringing players on so hopefully he will hit the ground running if he signs.

Hes fairly young, hes free and can play in a couple of positions.

Really dont understand people writing him off when its obviously not a huge gamble.

You just need to listen to how highly Rangers fans rate him. I know a fair few that have him on a par if not better than Jelavic. Moyes, by all accounts, has been following Naismith for some time and seems to like what he has seen. We have to trust his judgement up to a point. Other PL clubs seem to fancy him too - 6 were looking to sign him on a free apparently.

Any signing is a gamble, no matter how much you pay for them - look at Kaka, who has been one of the biggest failures at Real. Just rubbishing a player with little substance to back up your view is pointless. Some players pick up their performance when they play with better players, others who look amazing in one team turn out to be gash in another. Give the lad some time. You don't need to spend millions to get a player that improves the squad. Even if he does turn out to be simply a squad player who are we to complain. I hope he comes good and I will for one be supporting him when he makes his debut.

I'm not writing him off, just everything I've seen of him previously has been a cacophony of meh.

If he signs, I'll be delighted for him to prove me wrong.
