Yes mate, do you understand that professional footballer managers do pick players who are in form and that said player just scored a hattrick in a Premier League game against Chelsea?
This is what makes me laugh and has made me laugh all week.

Since when has playing well for 80 minutes suddenly classed as 'in form'.

Its laughable !

Yeah. You reckoned you couldn't understand why people didn't think he deserved to start tomorrow.

Seemes to me most people understand that he might deserve to start, just that they don't think he should due to the numerous other reasons managers pick their team.

Martinez isn't trying to be the players best mate and basing his team selection solely on who deserves it so not to upset anyone.

He might start tomorrow, he might not. Personally i'd rather he didn't but i wouldn't be too bothered if he did.

Every player has a role in the squad, a role that they are best at. If McCarthy scores 2 tomorrow and we win he shouldn't start up front next game should he? He carries on doing what he's best at.

So does Naismith. And for me, thats being a sub apart from a small selection of games where his qualities are most suited : basically working his ares off, hassling defenders non stop and trying to put a better team than us off their game, whilst hopefully finishing any chances he gets.

Of course the team isn't entirely picked on who deserves it, I haven't suggested that, it's the reason he deserves it (the way he performed) which makes him undroppable for at least one game imo.

CBA vaulting but I've read people posting they'd be disappointed in Martinez if Naismith starts ffs. It's not like he'd be pandering to him, in most cases if a player comes in and puts in a man of the match performance they keep their place, especially if it's a senior player. And as for people saying he's only good from the bench, he played what was it, 85 minutes? He pretty much started the match.

He might not start and we might win well. He might not start and we might find ourselves relying on him late on wishing he'd started. He might start and be rubbish. Whatever happens I hope Martinez gets it right.

to be fair to naismith.

If scoring a hat trick against the champions doesn't bag you a first team place the following week then you may as well be back on the phone to your agent and asking who wants to sign him now.

He will start tomorrow and fair.play to the guy he has earnt his place in the team ten fold after last week.

On that basis so is Naisy
I was being a tit.

Being ' in form ' is generally how a player is playing of late. I would think ' playing of late ' could be used to describe the last few games. Seeing as though we are only 5 games into the season, playing of late would mean this season. Ross Barkley, John Stones, Phil Jagielka are players who are in form. Steven Naismith has played well for 80 minutes, but before that couldn't organize a draw in a one legged arse-kicking competition.

One good match is not 'form'.

Form is something you see over a number of appearances.

Surely 3 goals in one match is showing goalscoring form like. It'd be stupid to risk stunting a run of goals from him in my opinion.

If he plays tomorrow I think he'll score.

So you're saying you want Lukaku dropped as he hasn't scored in 270 minutes of league football and seems to like kicking straight at the goalie.

Thought he changed the match when he came on vs Spurs. They were beginning to dominate in midfield but his scrappy approach unsettled them - we started winning far more free kicks and generally disrupting their play, allowing Barry in particular a bit of a breather as he was struggling.

Aye I thought that, I thought he did well at Barnsley too, any other appearances he made this season were too short to make an impact really!

There was a reason why Naismith has been on the bench this season. Naismith 9 times out of 10 seems to like finding any other player but a team mate with a pass. I'm all for rewarding a player with a run in the side if they've been playing well. An 80 minute spell doesn't turn my head.
