Needs to pipe right on down about starting, hear it every interview now from him and getting boring, yeah we turned down norwich where hed be a starter, so he now expects us to start him so he doeant damage his chances of starting for scotland? If he was half as good as he thought hed walk right into that crap scottish squad games or no games.

If hes thinking he is too good now to be a backup for us then offload him in jan and get austin in
In his interview with Sky yesterday he was openly talking of moves and fresh starts because of not being involved at the beginning of the season. If Mirallas (rightly) gets stick for his briefing of the media then that has to be given it too. As you say, his expectation of starts is unreal in this squad. Right from the final whistle against Chelsea he started campaigning in the media for a starting place in the future.

Can't understand this animosity towards Naismith for thinking he should be starting, surely we want all the players in the first team squad thinking they should start. Surely we don't want Bobby going to Funes Mori and telling him he starts against Reading and him saying "Are you sure Boss I don't think I'm good enough, there are better players than me in the squad".
I want Everton players all busting to get onto the team.

Thinking and openly stating they need to start are two things. Who else comes out with that in this squad? Mirallas apart, they all seem pretty humble to me and in no way would be underlining their starting credentials. Maybe they have more respect for their fellow players and their manager?

Saw him start enough last year to last me a lifetime, use him as he is best used as a sub and if he cant deal with it then in january let him go to norwich.

Cant think of a less Martinez type player left in the squad anyway and Cleverley should start 100/100 ahead of him

I see where you're coming from Dave, I'm not a fan of players making statements via the media etc. I think all of our players should be pushing for starting places, doing it via the media isn't necessarily the right way to do it. Naismith certainly can't complain at the game time he has had in the last 2 games, it's up to him to keep performing or he'll lose his place, simple as that!

I think it's fair to say he's provided a headache for Martinez in the time he's been here. As you say, never a player he'd voluntary move for in the market, but gets amongst the goals early in the season and poses issues for him over team selection. I do think Martinez likes his aggression too (RM has stated a few times in the past that his eyes were opened to the value of that type when he was playing up there in the SPL). But imo his instinct is to never let a player with such poor control of the ball anywhere near the pitch.

Cleverley coming back from injury solves matters for him, imo.

Naismith has had more chances than most under Martinez mate being honest, more than hed have got at comparable teams given his limitations

Sooner the better, cleverley adds a lot

Martinez likes him for sure, he tried to take him to Wigan when we signed him on a free.

There were a lot less options last season though, compared to this season. Look at the bench we had yesterday, and that's with a few 1st team players on the injury sidelines. It's going to be much harder for Naismith to hold down a 1st team place than it was last season

.....he's handsomely paid to be available for RM to use. All players want to play but RM can only select X1. Naismith knew this before he signed his latest contract, it's ok him wanting to start but it's disrespectful to go shouting off to the media about this and welcoming the Norwich bid. Perhaps he's got a bit carried away after his hat trick.

He is not and wont ever be good enough to hold down a first team place for a top half side.

Keep in mind that Martinez wanted to bring in another creative player for big money and i doubt hed still be here if that had happened, 50/50 if he stays beyond jan

Could be away in next window, not because Martinez wants to sell him but because he feels he needs more starts. I can see him going back to being a sub in most games. Will we get an offer of £8 million for him come New Year.
