Steven Naismith

Some players are more effective coming into a game as a substitute and I think Naismith is one of those.
He always works hard, he is a real team player and is a great player to have in any squad.

The problem is , I think, that as the season moves on and players get back to fitness I don't see Naismith starting ahead of Lennon, Deulofeu, Mirallas, Barkley , Kone and Cleverley. The goals against Chelsea raised his profile and he certainly is one of the more lethal finishers at the club, but there are limitations to his game.

I do think he will move on in the next year or two, simply to play more football than he will be getting at Everton.

Don't see why mate, Barkley for one he has been playing with this season, and they have both done better than they did last season when many were saying they wouldn't play well together. I don't think Mirallas will ever keep him out. As for the others do they play the same type of game? They might keep him out in a different formation with a more wider approach but i seriously cant see any of them players apart from Barkley keeping him out of the side.

The lad gives 100% but I'd sell him no question.

For how much and who is going to pay it? Norwich tried a 8m bid and Martinez quite rightly told them to do one. I cant see any top clubs with big coin coming in for him so unless we get a daft offer i don't think we will sell him anytime soon.

Could be away in next window, not because Martinez wants to sell him but because he feels he needs more starts. I can see him going back to being a sub in most games. Will we get an offer of £8 million for him come New Year.

Would probably get that, Norwich are lijely gonna be in a relegation fight and that chelsea game will keep his valuation high for a whilst like, can see 10m ;)

Mate you honestly don't think Cleverley for one won't keep him out the first team? He already was until his injury and will do so again as soon as he is back to fitness, he will be one of the first names on the team sheet as Martinez has wanted him ever since he came here as manager

Naismith is at best a squad player and IF we'd have gotten in Yarmolenko who Martinez wanted he would have been shipped off Norwich faster than the speed of light, will be moved on in January if Martinez goes back in for that playmaker he talked about all summer

I would have had their hands off for £8m. Fabian Delph, Asmir Begovic and Jordy Clasie went for the same price and all three are better players. There have also been a bunch of other players signed for less who also are better such as Schweinsteiger.

We cant be allowed to be sucked into last season's pattern of playing him and slowing us down. I consider Cleverley's injury a small disaster in that respect. Naismith is someone we should turn to only in the way that United have turned to people like Hernandez or Solskjaer in the past.

Anyone watching his interview on Sky yesterday had to be alarmed hearing him (again) making noises about first team starts. He really thinks he commands a place amongst this squad of players? Deluded. And not a statement you'd hear from others in the squad who wouldn't presume to say they should start every match.

How is he deluded for thinking he deserves to be in the starting 11? It may surprise people, but players like Naismith get to where they are through hard work and belief in their own ability. Why would a player who has consistently shown that he's good enough to be in and around the first team since Martinez joined and recently scored a hat-trick against the Champions not be entitled to think they may warrant a place in the starting 11?

Not aimed at you now, but some of our fanbase in general because they have no grasp on the reality of the game. They think our team should be filled with 10 outfield classy players from defence to attack with no hardworkers and no players who are in the team to do a job. These people are the same people who then moan at Barkley and Lukaku for being lazy and not getting stuck in. Except when we do have those players who are very effective at what they do like McCarthy and Naismith they get accused of not being productive or skilful enough. These are the same people who moan at any opportunity and brought a poisonous atmosphere to Goodison last season and continue to ruin the match day experience for those who can appreciate that every player has different strengths to their game.

Naismith had a good game on Saturday and contributed a lot for the team. Constantly chasing down their players and retaining possession well mostly. That's what he is in the team to do and if he's not doing that he's scoring hat-tricks against Chelsea or scoring goals against other big sides (Man United away, RS at home, Arsenal at home for example). He's not always at his best but at this moment in time, i'd much prefer to see the grafter Naismith than a player like Mirallas who only plays for himself and has proven himself to be a liability in the 2 minutes he was on for the other day. How many times has Mirallas scored a hat-trick for us against one of the best teams in the country?
