We can only hope, Gibson and McGeady too.

@Haston i think though that Deulofeu especially tries to make killer passes...whereas Naismith just kills our momentum.

I think Naisy and Mirallas are being more the most part permabenched so they don't get injured before the transfer window.

I agree that Del is much more ambitious with his passing. I'm not saying Naismith isn't bad at passing, it's definitely his weakness, it's just not as bad as gets made out IMO

Personally i think naismith and kone are as bad as one another when it comes to stopping our attacks mid flow.

For a passing side like ours we need much better...i mean neither would get into Arsenals squad even as backup.

You're right, they wouldn't. I like Naismith as an impact sub though, he energy and enthusiasm can make a difference at times

Mirallas I would get rid of tomorrow. Dubious work rate and temperament.

However, I genuinely don't understand a lot of the less positive Naismith sentiment. Under Moyes he had a limited time, often isolated out wide with teams not likely to break with him. But Martinez had him dropping deep and breaking quickly by linking up with wide players (Coleman and him link well, as do a few others) which created good opportunities for Rom n co. I think SN's great!

So, can anyone tell me why he's fallen out of favour? I'm not a season fan, and live overseas so bow overall to local views and people who are a Goodison every week ( I'd love to be ). But I watch all games on TV and Everton are brighter and fresher with SN on board. Kone's return from injury is impressive as a man. Martinez obviously rates him, but where are Kone's his goals? Naismith's stats and assists I would vouch are far more impressive.

I'm not sure of the latest surrounding Gibson, Osman, Pienaar et al - presumably all these guys are out the picture now (which is a shame as I rated all of them highly and wish we'd seen more of Gibson). But presumably space there for a) Goalie and b) bit of bite in midfield?

Who would we go for?

Sorry quite a few questions there, but glad of some local input...

Feel a little bit of spirit will leave with him but he deserves to playing and loved somewhere.
Mate who works at one of places he does charity work for said he's a really genuine guy with passion for everything he does and for people.
Hat trick against Chelsea deserves to go down as one of the great Everton performances. If he goes then hope we see him back here soon, playing well and grabbing a well deserved consolation goal.

Well said.

I think if people were completely honest with themselves, we'd all agree that the £8m would be of more use to us than Naismith at this point, as we quite clearly can't play football when he's on the pitch

I disagree and am only picking to reply on this post since it follows 3 or 4 other equally negative posts and I feel the need to pipe up. Work rate, hat trick against Chelsea, positive link-up play. Cleverley constantly passes sideways or backwards... Any goals, many assists? And he didn't do much for Villa as 'the man' there either from what I watched and was happy to jump ship pronto.

We're good watch but Martinez obsession with flair neglects the need for some steel and selflessness in the middle. We had Osman who I thought was terrific in that role and SN offered us more of the same. We risk losing intelligence, work rate and finishing in a squad that risks losing bite and concentration.

So naturally I'd say keep and include him, but happy to doff my cap to any stats that show we're better without him compared to when Cleverley or Dolofeu are on the pitch instead.

You'd get rid of Mirallas but not Naismith? Lol

Are you serious lad?

1. Naismith is absolute tosh at 'link up play' - to link play up you have to be able to control a ball and to pass a ball - he can do neither
2. Steel and Selfishness and then you quote Osman as providing that? - Leon 'just run past me like I'm a 9yo girl' Osman?
3. Why not ignore stats and use your bloody eyes, they are both utter rubbbish

Hat trick against Chelsea.
Goals against Arsenal two years on the bounce.
Winner against Chelsea.
Equaliser against Liverpool.
More goals against Chelsea.
Header against City.
Header against United.

FUGGIN H8 NAISY, LAD.
