Its a weird one...

Sell naismith / mcgeady / mirallas

Were still able to play Kone and Cleverley on the left...think he will go for a FW maybe on loan to cover lukaku and spend on a LW / LM and leave GK till summer.

Naismith should have been sold in summer, hoping Martinez has a clean sweep of squad players till end of summer and brings in his own choices.

Naismith and Mirallas - sell them and buy a good GK.

I have no real belief Martinez will buy a GK this January. It would be the way to go though. In reality, if there is anyone coming (which presupposes a sale of Mirallas, I'd guess) we'd see cash going toward a left sided player.

Agreed....

Naismith is an odd one...why do you think he wasnt sold in summer?

Im stuck between

--no time for a replacement
--felt he would give him a chance
--no backup for lukaku
--knows who he would use the money for but couldnt afford him so kept naismith around till jan when he would have the funds for the player he wants
--selling him dependant on Yarmolenko coming

The manager answered that one recently mate: he said that the Norwich bid came too late to use the cash. That makes sense. He came off the bench and we got the points off Chelsea and got through the earliest round of the LC because of it. It was a good call.

If a bid comes in early January I doubt he'll turn the cash down again.

So by saying that hes admitted that he would have sold him....if the bid came earlier.

Good its in Jan really and Mirallas and others too...as he says he wants to be stronger each window so will look to spend.

If he can get rid of those two and bring a couple in who he'll use as starters (for different reasons he wont use Naismith or Mirallas as starters), then we'll have had a good window. They're not in his plans so we'd do better recruiting two more. There's a lot of football to be played yet.

None of Naismith/ McGeady / Mirallas are in his plans and losing all 3 would really free up £20mil ish potentially.

I dont think we need to spend on players to replace them really as Kone/Cleverley and Deulofeu/Lennon cover the flanks....

I think the area he will look at immediately is backup for Lukaku as we have no one there...maybe backup for Coleman also.

Id very much hope that despite having "numbers" there he would look at LW/CM for a first choice player if not keeper.

Really amazing to think we have around 10 players who are not anywhere near the class of the rest of the remaining squad...such a gulf in class.

Naismith and Mirallas signal the beginning of the real changes under Martinez for me.

Agree mate. Should have happened sooner too.

Another striker would freshen it up. I think we all know the position that needs most urgent attention and it wont be dealt with, which is annoying to say the least. We'll have to wait until summer now to get shut of Howard. He'll have two years left on his contract so a fee could be demanded. I refuse to believe he can go on any longer than that.

Hes no dummy, i think with the way hes setting up the side and where he is moving players around he is preparing already for next season even now my developing peoples all round games....McCarthy/Barkley/Deulofeu especially this season and Lukaku last season.

Think hes seen with Naismith his limitations and also the others mentioned but didnt move them on as it seems he only wants to bring in max 4/5 players a window so no disharmony or major changes...

Perfect time in jan to shift out 3 and bring in 2 and then in summer move 5 out and bring in a few.

Its really going to be exciting seeing Moyes old guard make way now.
