Stones tells Everton he wants Man City transfer

The difference at City will be having David Silva ahead of him, instead of James McCarthy. He'll do well there. Obviously disappointing, especially if you believe the rumours and we actually might be spending a bit this summer... if Koeman can nail three real good transfers there really won't be much between us and City.. or any other club in the league really. That said, 50m or more for a centre back, I don't care who he is, is too good to turn down. We'll get two or three absolute quality players in from abroad with that, and the first XI will be massively improved. Unfortunately I don't see us spending anything like the 100m that was flying around in the media (it was never mentioned that this would partly be made up of money generated through sales), but if this 50m is spent, then perhaps another 30-50m, taking it to 30-50m net and a total of five or six real top end players brought in, and a stadium announced this year, I for one will be made up with Mr Moshiri. At present I remain skeptical, as nothing has changed.

Bye John. I don't blame you for leaving, clearly you've saw first hand that nothing has changed, you're doing the right thing for your career.

You will be missed.

Sad times for Everton when young prodigious talent doesn't want to stick around. This is a lad on the inside who knows a hell of a lot more than we do, he knows that it's all smoke and mirrors and Moshiri and Koeman haven't got a clue.

Bye John.

Guess yesterday's training was a shambles and it sent him over the edge

It is bizarre. He's not disrespected the club, don't be so childish. He's just asked for a transfer.
I honestly don't understand people getting all upset about players moving clubs at all unless like you said they disrespected or screwed over the club in the process. I think anyone would move on from their current job if they personally believed it was better for their career (I don't think it's better for stones' career but he apparently does)

I'd be happy with this if the fee was reinvested in the squad. But it won't be. It will be used to put some paint on the stands or some new advertising hoarding. Best of luck for the future, John.

He probably saw Koeman riding a bike without a helmet and doesn't want to work under such a renegade.

Can't say I blame him. If he can't adhere to health and safety then what's he going to do to this club.

Scary times.

For the record it is sad to see John go. Would have been fantastic with an english core of ross and john in the team but if we have to sell him then so be it. Reluctantly i would let him go (easy to replace) if it improves the team as a whole, with mata and witsel type signings.

This is just another rooney situation where they are leaving for success and better management of their careers so fair play to him for that. This has to be the last time though, next time we need to be that great opportunity for a young player to develop and not just use as a stepping stone.

Firmly believe if you don't want to be here then you can go, especially as I think we're at the beginning of a prosperous new era.

Lad will captain England one day though. Suppose we'll take these hits now as we're just starting out, won't be happening in a year or two.

I'd like some clauses in the contract for Everton. We hold all the aces here. If they don't meet our valuation, he stays. They are seemingly desperate for him, so adding in stuff like 5m if he wins a CL within 5 years, 3m per Premier League title over next 5 years, etc, shouldn't be a problem. The way transfers are going, the way China is getting involved, a potential fee of 75m - if he fulfils his own potential and especially to a club like City whose owner makes more than that each day - is nothing.

Asked for a transfer to a rival club.

I remember him telling the fans to pipe down at Goodison during one of his stupid 'turn and pass to keeper' moments.

If fans are annoyed at him then so be it, that's football.

I really enjoyed Lescott's decline into a no mark player. I know the thousands of others who booed him must have, too. How very childish of us.
