Stones tells Everton he wants Man City transfer

It's a human thing, often the result of having been brought up properly, skills passed down including manners, having perspective, balance and the adult ability to GTF over things that a) don't matter b) are beyond your contol 100%.
Agreed.
I don't get the hate personally, We wants a new club. End of. No disrespect or anger needed here.
I want the money for the benefit of our club, I presume he wouldn't wish me bad for that either.

I’m sorry, but I don’t believe that wishing that he fails at City like Sinclair, Rodwell and many before him makes me ill-mannered?

His performances over the past two years have been inconsistent to say the least. I’m not attempting to rewrite history and start saying he’s a terrible player, but the fact remains that all he is at this moment in time is a centre back with potential. Not a terrible centre back and not a class one, a decent centre back with a lot of potential but also numerous weaknesses.

What I am not saying is that I wish him a career threatening injury, or personal ill will. But I certainly won’t be applauding him upon his return to Goodison, nor hoping he goes on to be the best centre back in the world for another club.

If that makes me bitter then so be it.

The difference at City will be having David Silva ahead of him, instead of James McCarthy. He'll do well there. Obviously disappointing, especially if you believe the rumours and we actually might be spending a bit this summer... if Koeman can nail three real good transfers there really won't be much between us and City.. or any other club in the league really. That said, 50m or more for a centre back, I don't care who he is, is too good to turn down. We'll get two or three absolute quality players in from abroad with that, and the first XI will be massively improved. Unfortunately I don't see us spending anything like the 100m that was flying around in the media (it was never mentioned that this would partly be made up of money generated through sales), but if this 50m is spent, then perhaps another 30-50m, taking it to 30-50m net and a total of five or six real top end players brought in, and a stadium announced this year, I for one will be made up with Mr Moshiri. At present I remain skeptical, as nothing has changed.

I actually think if Stones leaves for £50m+, we will spend £150 - 200m. The new owner wants us to compete and selling Stones fast tracks us to a level playing field. If we didn't think selling Stones was for the benefit of the club going forward he would be told to pipe down or sit in the reserves.

Personally think whatever we end up getting from the Stones sale will be almost all spent on a direct replacement anyway, so yeah can see a spend around that level as being around what we end up doing

We bought him for very little, we're selling him for loads. He's from Yorkshire, and has no affinity to Everton and we can buy 2 reliable centre halves with the money we get from 1 erratic centre half, I don't see an issue.

I would be far happier if City had offered £50m for Niasse or Kone.
I don't like to see young promising players who are part of our great club think they can do better than Everton. I have always taken that stance and I always will. Anywhere else is a step down imo.

I think 30m net spend tops.

50m for Stones, so 80m spent. That should equate to at least five very, very good players. And that's about what we need tbh. Still, would like to see 50-60m net spent and four/five first XI players brought in (goalkeeper, second striker, creative midfielder, centre back) plus some quality squad players with great potential.

I remember there being a "promise of investment in the summer", and can only assume Koeman joined due to significant funds being made available - and not from him having to buy to sell or what not...

Could be promising. Just want to see some movement now.

What he said

Just saw this headline on the GOT home page, can't say I'm surprised or in any way disappointed. Sure, like all our players, he has been mismanaged over the last couple of years, but I am not convinced by him at all. Good on the ball, but in no way is he a defender.

He's going to get slaughtered in the press for the basic errors he constantly makes.
Aye. He also doesn't appear to be that strong of a character, either, so he'll have to improve and fast, and not let his mistakes and crowd murmurs cause his form to drop further.
He won't be let off so easy when he's doing Cruyff turns against Luis Suarez in the Champions League, gets dispossessed and sees his side concede a goal.
Needless to say, as soon as he joins City he'll automatically become England's first choice centre back.

exactly he could turn out to be the freddy adu of defenders when he joins city. shown a few glimpses of quality here and there but nothing to make me think he's worth 50 mil

most of his last ditch defending which he is praised for is because he's either out of position or given the ball away in the first place

Yet under your now banned previous name you said this mate. Are you just throwing a strop because he's had the cheek to try and progress his career?
