Stones tells Everton he wants Man City transfer

dunno what you are on about mate,

and in any event, he could be our captain one day but not if he is handing in transfer requests or wanting to leave obviously....

Think he's suggesting you have previously posted under another username?

It's a shame about Stones but if he's determined to leave our only objective should be getting a record fee for him and using the proceeds to improve the squad.

Absolutely not inevitable that he will go on to become a great centre half. Takes chances, can be bullied in the air, seems to lack a bit mentally.
If he wants to go, and they agree to pay the £50 million, then that's fine. However, Rom should be told that the sale of Stones categorically means that he stays.

LOL Deary me.

I'd suggest members leave the moderating to the moderators;

'Playing The Ref'
Attempting to moderate the forum by stating what should, and shouldn't be discussed or attempts to get another user banned by posting things such as "abuse! ban him!" is totally unacceptable, and will not be tolerated on this forum. This is basically the internet equivalent of a footballer waving the imaginary yellow card at a referee, and is completely unhelpful. If you see a post that you believe is in violation of the forum's Rules and Guidelines or Terms of Service, it would be appreciated if you could use the "Report" to Moderator function to bring it to our attention.

"Report to Moderator" Function
This forum has a "Report to Moderator" function built into its software (located directly beneath all posts). The purpose of this function is to aid moderators in their duties. As you can imagine, it's not easy (nor plausible) for a small team of people to read every last post in every last thread on the forum, so this is where we need your help. If you see a post that you believe is in violation of the forum's Rules and Guidelines or Terms of Service, it would be highly appreciated if you could use the "Report to Moderator" function to bring it to our attention.

Also please be aware that, whilst reportings are not anonymous to administrators, all details will be kept strictly confidential and will not leave the admin forum. You will not, under any circumstances, be name dropped on the open forum for reporting a post in a genuine manner.

There has been a tendency recently for any new member who is active with posting to be a "multi". It isn't helpful and 9/10 it is is incorrect.

May have been asked before but in the 50+ years of following the club I am struggling to think of only a couple of former players who left and went on to bigger and better things i.e. Lineker and Rooney. Others may have left to clubs and careers on a similar par to that at Everton but very, very few have actually gone on to have stellar careers and I suspect Mr Stones may well become just another of that number.

I really do hope he goes on to fulfill his immense potential and wish it was with us but, ultimately, that is all it currently is....potential.

As Old Whiskey Nose (SAF) once said about a team that Manure were due to play...'On their day they can beat anyone. It's just finding the day!'. And I think the same could be said for Stones - on his day he can/could be a world beater but it's just finding the day and, more importantly, the consistency. That is why in my view if Man City do table £50m it is too good an offer to turn down especially as his heart and mind have already vacated the premises.

Good to see the lad as loyal to the blue as one can be.

Loyal? Some fans made him cry in a service station. He's been boo'd and abused. As far as he's concerned, WE haven't been loyal. I'm not that fussed tho as defenders can be replaced and Everton will continue on, hopefully doing a double over city when he fails to clear the ball.

Lad, this was after he handed in a transfer request. Have some perspective, eh.

That was after he handed in a transfer request with few days to go in the transfer window. And if he was sold that left us with no time to find a replacement.

It is bizarre. He's not disrespected the club, don't be so childish. He's just asked for a transfer.

He has now asked for a transfer twice... the first time within months of committing to new long term contract. He was clearly happy playing for Everton then, he can be fairly confident of being selected regularly and with our new ownership could probably earn as much as anywhere else and be part of an upwardly mobile team under a respected coach.

So personally I won't be wishing him well... like so many footballers he's an egomaniac who believes his own hype and thinks its beneath him to slum it outside the Champions League elite for more than two minutes once a Sky pundit has bestowed greatness upon him.

That doesn't mean a wish him ill either… a slow slide into Lescott-like mediocrity will suffice.

This may have something to do with him wanting to go. I know he'd put in a transfer request, but I think he was poorly treated by some
Blues at the time.

I'm sorry to lose him and I think he'll live up to his potential, and maybe not necessarily as a defender.

50 million is a lot of money, but with the money being thrown about now it isn't that much, really. How things have changed in just a year.

WHAT IF TIME........

what if the first time round it was to finance the Yarmalenko deal? Therefore him 'handing in requests' is when we plan to sell him but use the money elsewhere?

Now i know the first time round that may or may not be true but the second time round i can guarantee that is club spin on the whole thing. they can't keep it under the radar ala rodwell so instead they run this story officially.

but side note, chelsea wanted stones right? That deal only died realistically when ours for yarmalenko did at the same time. As soon as he got told no, cheslea publicly got told not for sale at all.

I don't expect any loyalty from players these days, and they are fully justified in that respect

It used to bother me, but why anyone would expect loyalty from a player like Stones or Lukaku, who have no connection to the club or local area, is beyond me

Supporters are hardly loyal themselves when it comes to players. We'll turn on any player at any moment for any reason

If a player is a Blue who has come through the ranks, then it's a bit different as you expect a bit more affinity and care for the club, but for a man like Stones, who was signed ready made from Barnsley, I don't expect anything from him other than trying to make the process as smooth as he possibly can, which it appears he's done. If he has indeed asked to leave, and put in a transfer request, he forgoes his loyalty bonus, which in turn puts more money in our pockets

Good luck to him. He didn't sulk after not getting his Chelsea move last year and was professional throughout the season. He's given us plenty of notice this window to find a replacement for him and there's good players out there that we can now put the money from his sale towards. I happen to think he's an excellent player and will miss him, but I don't begrudge him his big move. He's gone about it the right way and I'm sure we'll be fairly compensated for losing him
