Stones tells Everton he wants Man City transfer

It would be lovely if our fans stopped being so "sympathetic" with players who want to "further their careers" or line their pockets and instead put the interest of EFC ahead of these entitled buggers.

If we all took that attitude then we will remain "a mid table team" and we should just let any player who thinks he can take a "step up" walk out the minute a "bigger club" comes calling.

You would have Everton as the Uriah Heep of English football with that type of thinking, Ash.

We are Everton and we are ever so 'umble :(

Stones can just do one as far as I am concerned.

And far from not "blaming" him for wanting to leave, I think he should be more "sympathetic" to the hopes and aspirations of the football club which plucked him from obscurity.....when the only serious rival to us for his signature was Wigan FFS...gave him a chance at first team football he would not have had at City, stuck by him when mistake was piling upon mistake on the pitch and gave him a platform to become an international player.

All in a couple of years.

Make no mistake here......Everton FC owes Stones bugger all.

He on the other hand owes his current elevated status to our Grand Old Team and to David Moyes and Roberto Martinez in particular.

As others have said, he is valued far above what he has shown on the pitch thus far and he may or may not turn out to be a great player in the end.

One thing is for sure.....the phoney war is over for him and City will be expecting fifty million quid performances from him right away.

And their fans won't indulge his mistakes on the grounds that "he is young but he will be great in two or three years time".

As the much lamented @davek once said......"he might turn into the next Beckanbauer.....but let's just take the money and let somebody else teach him to fill that role".

:pint2:

Well said! Lets just get the most we can for him and look to sign someone that can defend now, not in 5 years time.

I don't think we will get Kouilibaly, I expect to see a bid accepted for Van Dijk in next 2 days done pretty quickly. No ITK at all, just a hunch.

spot on mate ;)

No mate, pretty sure they'll want to land a defender before releasing Stones.

Sweet nice one for answering i know your harassed!

Was just wondering what the clubs stance was on if they want to commit to the proposed wages to witsel, mata and a defender (without renewals) without selling stones.

He has now asked for a transfer twice... the first time within months of committing to new long term contract. He was clearly happy playing for Everton then, he can be fairly confident of being selected regularly and with our new ownership could probably earn as much as anywhere else and be part of an upwardly mobile team under a respected coach.

So personally I won't be wishing him well... like so many footballers he's an egomaniac who believes his own hype and thinks its beneath him to slum it outside the Champions League elite for more than two minutes once a Sky pundit has bestowed greatness upon him.

That doesn't mean a wish him ill either… a slow slide into Lescott-like mediocrity will suffice.

Egomaniac? Jesus wept. He wants to play at the best level he can in the most prestigious tournaments and with a chance of winning it. That should be what every driven footballer wants

Stones is as certain as you can get in football to go so we've a fairly free reign to spend.

Wasn't his fault, but if I was the club, I'd have told him he didn't need a holiday following the euros and get your Arse back to FF and like a man tell us your intentions. Then this could all have been wrapped up by now. But then I will never own a club ha ha

The lad is far too calamity crazy for my liking, poor passes, missed interceptions and rank poor judgement. I hope he plays against us where ever he ends up, money in the bank imo especially with young Pennington looking a far better prospect than this rolling Stones
