will stop all the teams going down trying to waste time so can only be a good thing

That stuff doesn't effect a game. They're just doing the usual thing they do every season and nitpick something isn't an issue.

A big part of the "time wasting" is the ball out of play or set pieces. But that's part of the game so don't know why there's a need to add extra time (that they make up anyway).

Instead they should concentrate on making VAR not the car crash that it is. Another thing that hasn't improved the game IMO.

I think the game should evolve.
10 seconds for a throw in, 20 seconds for a corner.
Don't stop the game for subs.
Don't stop the game for injury, unless career/life threatening plus head injury.
Time stops if there is goal, free/goal kick, or sending off.

Would stop a lot of nonsense

Who's counting all that though? The ref isn't stopping his watch or checking it every 20 seconds.

There's already additional time for subs, injury, and VAR decisions. Don't understand the need to add some plucked out of the air extra minutes for every other little of what happens on the pitch.

The stoppage time should ultimately go down. Once teams understand that walking off the field as slow as possible on a substitution to burn time will not help, they will make some effort to get off the field. Same with corners and goal kicks. It makes sense that the weaker teams want to reduce the actual time with the ball in play. But it has gotten worse over time.

Think I agree with this. Makes it a lot more transparent. Atm it just feels (they might actually be honest but it's hard to know) like added time is completely arbitrary depending on who's reffing the game and who's playing.
I disagree. Would go like the US sports, where the final minute or so is just players stood around with the ball waiting forhe buzzer.

Time wasting is annoying when you're trying to win, but there's nothing better when we do it and get a result. All clubs do it at one point or another; It is called game management. Football is a sport, not entertainment. Why change it?

I can see the sense in it, time wasting has become a scourge on the game, however just adding the time on won’t stop the nonsense on its own. The referees have the power to stop time wasting just as they have the power to stop players going down when someone breathes on them or the holding when corners are taken. The problem is the referees are afraid to use the powers they have.

A football match is supposed to be 90 minutes of action. We were getting less than an hour of real play so something had to be done.
Brentford were the worst team I saw for wasting time last year.... match after match. A wolves fan I know told me that the goalkeeper even changed his gloves in one of their games. The fact the ref allowed it is beyond me but let's hope the players clean up their act now.

I think they need to bring this stoppage time in to the Transfer Windows aswell, I expect we'd get an extra month each Window the way we deal..
