If you look at our transfer deals over the last 3 years at best we get it right 50% of the time. I’ve included those we make a profit on as successes. I simply don’t therefore see the benefit of signing a number of players. We need to sign 3 or 4 first team players.

He bought Keane because he was a no nonsense defender who was good in the air at Burnley. Completely missing the fact he's mentally not strong enough and isn't "aggressive".

He bought Klassen that looked like a favour for his old club, not knowing where he would fit in. He's not a number 10 and not robust in the premiership to be a CM - hence why Beni and Davies jumped ahead of him.

Oh I agree our window was horrendous in hindsight

I just mean the method of getting 'specialists' in certain positions can be fine, but there has to be a clear plan of how to bring those players together as a unit and how they will blend together.

Obviously at Everton that was non existent.

Have to take into consideration that the word 'planning' is banned at EFC.

Good player. They're staying up though and he's a hero there. No chance of us getting him without a carrot like Champions League football etc.

Depends what sort of manager we go for and their requirements but I'd say Pickford, Coleman and Walcott are the only players I see with a certain first team future, and two of them are 29.

If we go for a modern European coach who plays the 4-2-3-1 system then most of our midfielders don't actually possess the passing/playmaking role demanded of the deeper two, or the explosive pace, skill, dribbling to be part of the front 4.

They're only 3 points behind us, with a better goal difference and a game in hand, albeit with a more difficult set of fixtures.
It's not impossible for Newcastle to finish above us still.
 
Need a big clear out so the new manager can get plays that can play football. Not the dross that fat sam and koeman call football.

taking gana out of the team would be shocking. he could walk into arsenals team. And keane is not good enough, that is obvious.

I think we could easily raise 80mil maybe more. I suppose the hard part is finding teams to pay the wages for them players.
