..in the old days, many a great Full Back was a converted winger/Forward (Ray Wilson, Tommy Wright etc). It’s not a new phenomenon at all.

And Jags is massively underrated.

I think Capt Jags falls victim to being judged on criteria other than pure football ability; his excellent all round play is put into shadow by his peerless leadership qualities. The PL's most dominating, commanding personality? Very probably. But also a silky skilled defender. I recall Rio Ferdinand, no slouch of a defender himself, saying he used to watch videos of Capt Jags' play to improve his own game...high praise indeed.
